Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mobile gaming is the next step forward.

http://plebegaming.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/mobile-gaming-a-huge-leap-back-as-the-next-step-forward/

With smart phones growing more advanced and having a massive audience, mobile gaming has become more mainstream than console gaming. That said, mobile gaming is still young, and the quality of games the new casuals are experiencing are nothing when compared to something like The Last of Us, Ico, or Super Mario Galaxy.

Mobile games are already more than socially acceptable, and as smart phones grow more elaborate, the games they can handle will as well. Eventually the type of games real gamers play will become mainstream entertainment through the growth of mobile gaming. I'm sure I'm not alone in assuming that games would eventually be the largest form of entertainment, but I'd argue that because of the changes smart phones have put into motion, gaming will become the primary form of entertainment sooner than expected.

Problem is that nobody wants to make a beast mobile game that really makes the most of the best hardware capabilities available on mobile while giving deep gameplay experience. XCOM was a step in the right direction.

But I still at least want a d pad and at least 2 buttons! At least!

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Thanks for the lolz

If they can make good games and come up with a control scheme that s functional I will be okay with mobile gaming. Right now I have never enjoyed a single mobile game, and much of that is how frustrating touch controls are for me. The fact they tend to be shallow experiences and often have monetization models I find off putting certainly does not help either.

Not as long as most of those mobile games are fun for like 5-10 minutes and that won't change anytime soon!

Wake me up when it´s a proper replacement to play all the types of games we see on Playstation/Xbox/Nintendo/PC.

So what you're saying is gaming is going to devolve to the lowest common denominator with future Flappy Birds taking over the market and people permanently becoming addicted to their phones wherever they go. The future sounds just wonderful.

In terms of quality it is a huge leap backwards.. If you can even say that as mobile games has been around for far longer than the smartphone surge. Most of these games hasnt evolved in any way than revenue increase through in app purchases.

The only future it has is the saddening one where it eliminates the opposition through accesability and low low prices. 95 percent is absolute crap but its free crap so people will swallow it up
