Bit random but was listening to old intro's of dragonball. The french one is so nostalgic for me but damn the Italian one is great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd5v9UCvyac Start around 40 seconds

No new Trigger anime last season or next one. Anime is officially "unsaved".

Next season has some promising stuff but nothing that would make me go crazy. I'm hoping on at least one of the comedies to be a hit.

Even though it is a Movie, Trigger does have Promare coming out in May.

Movies do indeed not count. But thanks for reminding me.

AOTS (runner-up): Mob Psycho 100 - Season 2

Special Mention: My Roommate is a Cat

Very solid season overall, and I could have honestly picked four different shows for my AOTS at any given point.

I'll have Shield Hero and Jojo continuing into Spring, will be watching new seasons of One Punch Man, Bungo Stray Dogs, and Attack on Titan, and plan to try out We Can't Study, Fruits Basket, and that Teacher Hentai that apparently kept going after I stopped reading it and is apparently getting an anime. Will decide more on the fly...depends where the blondes are hiding.

See you next season! ...which is now I guess.

I watched Giggukl's stream yesterday where he went over all of the animes next season. Looks like it's gonna be a very quiet one, haven't seen a single one that I would assume could reach a 9.

However there are a ton of amazing movies that may warrant high ratings.
Promare
Hibike Euphonium
Cencoroll
Laidbackers
Kabaneri

Neo Fruits Basket was pretty darn funny.

I really want to like Shield Hero, but my god every character that isn't in the main party is an utter freaking moron. I don't think I ever cringed so hard at an anime as that confrontation scene. I can't believe a character literally said:

Spoiler!
"Can you prove that your shield doesn't have brainwashing powers?"

The main cast is pretty good overall, but if the only way to make your MC look good is to give every other character an IQ of 3, it seems like less of an achievement. Really hope this overused plot gets resolved...it's not even remotely interesting and I'm honestly more interested in seeing these cheesy cartoon villains go away forever rather than even be addressed in the story. A good villain in my eyes is a character you "love to hate"...not someone you hate so much you groan whenever they show up to do anything.

In more positive news, been watching Battleship Yamato 2199 lately. It's cheesy and features a ton of old tropes, but given that it's actually a remake of an old anime that essentially pioneered most of these tropes, I'm a fair bit more accepting of it. I love the way the villains are portrayed, and the animation is amazing. Also blonde alien girls galore!

Gonna start Spring shows next week...have Fruits Basket and that Bocchi show in my Crunchyroll queue so I'll check those out first.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ep. 1 was sad as all heck but also really good.  Hopefully it keeps all the emotion and doesn't just go full shounen.  There is a lot of potential with what the main character is trying to accomplish.

I've dropped plenty of media for that terrible literary device.  I don't understand it.  A good author should realize that by making the enemy look good, it makes the protagonist look even better.  Beating a stupid enemy, though?  Big deal.

There was a fantasy book I started not long ago.  Really liked the main character and the primary threat had a lot of potential.  It turned into something of a feminist romp, yeah, but I've read books with a feminist slant before and enjoyed them when they were well-written and realized.  Not this time.  In this book, the author's way of empowering the female characters was to make all the male characters stupid, petty, and weak.  On top of that, at least three of the male characters had love or desire for a female character as one of their primary motivations.  On top of that, the female characters were the ones with the strongest magical powers and by far the strongest warriors.  It came across as nothing more than wish fulfillment and ruined a story that had some actual potential.

You don't make your heroes look good by giving them a cakewalk path to victory, you just bore your audience and potentially break their sense of immersion.  It's bad writing.
