Is that a trend eh? Has the genre gained significant popularity over the years? Especially compared to 90s and 2000s.

As far as anime, more like this year. before we would be lucky to get one or two anime at most every one or two years, latest was 2015 with the third season of Yuru Yuri and Yuri Kuma Arashi, in general yuri is a niche genre, so seeing so many adaptations and some anime originals being announced and released in succession is quite a surprise.

Yeah that's what I thought. There was a time of yuri erotica long before 90s and 2000s, but those 2 decades in particular seem really sparse. Was thinking with your post that the 2010s had some sort of trend going on but it seems from what you say only 2018.

Wotakoi ep 3 was so good.  It's nice to see a relationship between adults rather than high schoolers.  Well, even if the adults act like kids sometimes.  Narumi is so funny.  I'm kind of jealous Hirotaka landed such an interesting girlfriend, even if she's rotten to the core.  Also, I find Hana to be extremely hot.

I like 3D Kanojo.  First episode was rocky but it has improved with every episode.  It might feel amateurish at times but that's okay with me.  Polish is sometimes overrated.  I like the main girl a lot and I think the voice actress is doing a good job making her feel unique among anime heroines.  Also, damn, getting labeled as a potential child molester like that has to be devastating.  That asshole crossed the line with that.  I hope he suffers for it.

Comic Girls ep 3 was hilarious, kind of touching, kind of cute, and then hilarious again.  Depressed Kaos-chan is the best Kaos-chan.

Last Period is really weird but it's not bad.  It's trying really hard to be meta but I don't care much about that--though using characters from a different anime as overpowered Summons was pretty funny.

Golden Kamuy has been excellent so far.  I can see why the manga just won a prestigious award in Japan.  Easily the most original anime this season.

Caligula, on the other hand, isn't very original but it reminds of Persona so that's okay.  I like it so far, though it might well fall apart like many other convoluted anime before it.

Megalo Box is very stylish and well produced.  It brings Cowboy Bebop to mind.  I'm not sure it's going to turn into anything beyond action movie fluff but at least it's entertaining.

Jikken-hin Kazoku (Creatures Family Days) is interesting.  Rather, the characters are interesting, which makes me want to see what happens with their family, as well as why their parents did all of that to their kids.  It's a little bit childish and sappy but, uh, the blonde girl is damn sexy and the other two are cute in different ways.

Pretty Derby is another anime with good characters.  It's very well produced and the last race had me invested.  I like that the rivals aren't automatically bad people just because they want to win.  I really like both of the main opponents so far and El Condor Pasa is badass.  Gold Ship is awesome and McQueen is funny.

I think people already know about anime like Tada-kun, Hinamatsuri, Piano Forest, and Amanchu.  Add them all together and this is one of the most packed anime seasons I've ever seen.

That line people always drop about anime not being as good as it used to be is nonsense.

Yeah but anime nowadays doesn't make me hot cocoa like my mom did when I got home from piano lessons. #Toonami4Ever

Seriously though, no idea how anyone can still complain about modern anime with seasons like this...unless you only watch like..one type of thing and nothing else.

---------------

Glasses girl is Tada-kun is pretty damn hot. I think I can see where Cloudman's coming from now.

3D Kanojo is pretty nice. Like Poko I don't mind the low budget vibe, and the main pairing is cute, even if the main boy frustrates me sometimes and acts way too over-dramatic. The tone catches me off guard though...I have a tough telling when a scene is supposed to be funny or serious. I was watching the scene where he gets accused of being a pedophile as a joke because of how fast the scene was moving, and was confused when it had actual repercussions. Also feel like the setup is pretty dumb anyway...basically every character other than main girl believes it without question, including ponytail friend and his own mother. But then again, I remember watching one anime a few years ago where a character's dad was ostracized from society for being accused of stealing a candy bar. Maybe it just seems dumb outside that culture.

The ending to the last Hinamatsuri ep was just gold.

That's all I feel like talking about now...kinda tired from a long work week. New poll tomorrow. Maybe it'll be a good poll.

Gosh Wotakoi is just delightful. I was already pretty hyped for this so I was expecting it to be great, but I was smiling so much last episode. Playing Mario Kart Wii feels so nostalgic, and the adult slumber party was super relatable. Probably one of the most realistic rom-coms I've seen...if not the most so. Definitely gonna read the manga when this season finishes.

Winner of Most Relaxing Anime Poll is: Tanaka-kun is Always Listless

Nice! I haven't seen this one, so into the backlog pile it goes!

------------

New poll is for a special voice actor that we all know and love. No, not Hana Kana, or Aya Hirano, or Rie Kugimiya. The voice actor I mean does much better waifus than any of those commoners. I mean...of course, the unforgettable Tomokazu Sugita!

What's your favorite role? Not listed, make a post! Don't like the poll? Well...write an angry letter to your local congressman I guess.

Like usual, you're all welcome to suggest new polls any week, so let me know here, Discord, or through PM what you'd like to see in the future.

Last Period is almost pretty good. Hoping for an Anime Award for best representation of loot boxes.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Comic Girls ep 4 was so freaking funny.  Instead of Kaos-sensei, it was Big Boobs-sensei's turn to get picked on.  I like how it builds bits of humor on top of other humor so it's like a stream of silliness.

Ruki getting called on to read from a textbook and doing it in a sexy voice was probably my favorite part, though little Kaos-chan trying her best to help with an ero-manga was so cute.  So many funny moments.

Ruki thinking the monitor is the actual computer.

Also!  Don't lie to your readers!  They'll find out the truth if you become a success!

Wotakoi feels so genuine.  That's my favorite thing about it.  It feels like the author understands the jokes she's making from the inside, not as an outside observer making fun of "otaku".  I remember reading that most of the characters are modeled on her friends, as well.  She must be a very perceptive person.

It's pretty neat how she started out posting the story on Pivx and it just kept getting more and more popular.
