It also depends on the translations.

When i check on mangafox, most manags have like 1-3month gap for each chapter to get translated =(

It will take much longer, if the manga isnt that popular.

But! that's what i get for reading it for free =D

I would suggest trying Batoto before any of the Manga_____ sites.  Yeah, it's still technically piracy but at least Batoto works with and supports scanlation teams.  They're as ethical about it as possible rather than just ripping from scanlator sites.  Many groups will only give permission to Batoto, though of course that doesn't stop Mangafox, Mangahere, or any of the other places from using their work for profit.

Saki - I'm probably on my own with this one but I love Saki.  It's a mahjong club anime that mainly centers on a girl who gifted at it but doesn't really realize it.  They aim for the high school tournament, of course.  What makes Saki different, though, is the way the writer makes the characters from the other schools come alive.  Sometimes you won't know who to root for because two of your favorites might be going head to head.  Also, it's fun because it's not realistic, with some of the girls having special powers when it comes to mahjong, which makes it dramatic.

As an update to this, I went to re-watch Saki on Crunchyroll but it turns out their "Saki" is the 2nd and 3rd series, Side A and The Nationals, without the original 25 episode run anywhere in sight.  Side A is about a group of girls on the other side of the brackets who are old friends of Nodoka (Saki's teammate and <3?(!)) that are aiming to meet her in the Finals, while The Nationals picks up from the original series.  Neither are ideal as starting points.  I had to resort to anilinkz.

It's as good as I remember.  I'd forgotten how short Saki's skirt is, though.  Their school must be a very distracting place for guys.  I love how she's a badass at mahjong but this small little animal otherwise.  It's so cute.

And the President, as usual, is just damn cool.

Every day I'm waiting for an opportunity to post this. I posted it like 4 times now but it just doesn't get less awesome.

Kan.

Beast-mode Saki is one of the most exciting things in anime.

Saki is alright but I'm more of a Kuro x Yuu guy now.

Looks like I was right with my intuition since the first episode of Cross Ange. It really is something special. Breaks so many conventions that it's just an absolute joy to watch.

Sounds pretty good, I think I'll try watching it myself

Just don't be too disappointed. At its core it's still a very generic fan service heavy mech anime. But Ange is a really refreshing character which makes it very interesting. There are heavy parallels to Freezing with lots of serious content.

What I'm saying is it won't win a BAFTA but it's easily breaking the mold of every other anime of its type. In the last 2 episodes alone it broke 2 ironclad anime rules.

If you have limited capacities of watching animes I wouldn't recommend it and rather point you to this season's best like Maria and Rolling Girls.

Hi guys! I've absent from this thread since mid november... so I have two days reading and catching up on the almost 600 coments (60 pages) you left...

This season i have been watching little animes (bought a ps4 on december and have been playing some Vitra games too) so I only follow log horizon, Shigatsu wa kimi no uso and Shirobako from Fall Season and from this season Idolm@ster, DurararaX2 and Aldonoah Zero S2... even stalled some good shows from Fall to watch later before Spring season begin (because is gonna be a pretty good one!)

One of the anime on the to Watch list is this, PUNCH LINE:

Looks pretty fun ann is a original production (like Shirobako).

Oh, by the way, Eccentric Family was amazing...Super highly recommended! Benten was one of the most enigmatic characters in recent memory.

I LOVED THIS SHOW!! For me is like the spiritual Sucessor of Ghibli's Tanuki no Ponpoko...

Nah, I've never watched that show...I'm not really into sports anime (with a few exceptions), especially when they are longer than 12 episodes (I can only take so much "I'm gonna be the best"). I tend to really only watch sports anime that do something different...

Sports anime I've seen: Chihayafuru (amazing characters and Karuta is a really interesting sport), Ping Pong (amazing direction) and One Outs (interesting battle of wits)....and maybe No Game No Life, but I'm not sure if I can call that a sports anime.

Chihayafuru is probably the best Club anime I've ever seen.  Off topic, the latest issue of the manga just came out (got fan-translated) and I'm too scared to read it.  Damn it, Taichi ...

Anyway, another of my favorite Club anime is Taisho Baseball Girls.  It's a real shame that so few people have seen it.  It's about a small group of girls who want to play baseball during Japan's Taisho era, when such an activity by females was highly frowned upon.  There are no other girl's teams, which means they have to play boys and get absolutely stomped while they're learning, not to mention dealing with the disapproval of society in general.  This isn't a "power up" anime in the slightest, as the real struggle is just getting on the field in the first place.  It's also quite funny.

I'm also a fan of Saki.  Yes, I once made fun of it because of those tiny, tiny skirts, but once the mahjong tournaments start, it transforms into another animal completely.  You really don't know who is going to win and, perhaps worse, the characters from other schools are often so good that you don't even know who you WANT to win a match.  Personally, I want more Stealth Momo.

Edit:  What the hell is up with this place?  Why can I no longer post videos?  This is really, really stupid.

This was a pretty fun serie... I enjoyed it a lot.. I even began to translate it into spanish with a friend, but he didn't quite like it and didn't finish Ecoding it.. I translated up to 8th chapter... A shame, Wanted more people to enjoy it like me. :(

I'm pretty excited for Kangoku Gakuen anime for this year... I have been reading the manga for arround two years already:

Now if my dreamed animes of PLUTO, Vinland Saga and Yankee-kun to Megane-san would happen, I would be so Happy :').. Well, At least Yamada-kun to Shichinin no Majo is gonna be animated!

Kangoku Gakuen is insane, a total mind-trip.  I can't even imagine it in anime form.

The Yankee-kun to Megane-san live action drama was quite good.
