After seeing Kantai Collection, my thirst only grows more for the second season of Ars Nova ...

In other words, the former is just a foil for the latter ...

There is almost nothing on the serious action-adventure side.  Assassination Classroom might be an option.

Looks like a lot of the typical mecha and harem/schoolgirls fighting with stuff kind of anime this season.

Virgin Witch Maria is the best thing I've seen so far, I really like the vibe.  Yuri Kuma Arashi is a mind trip comedy anime (reminds me of Maria Holic) which is off to a good start, though that's a specialized taste.

Other than that, most of the best stuff this season will be continuing series from last season, like Parasite, Seven Deadly Sins, Shirobako, and You Lie in April.

Looks like there is going to be a Hori-san to Miyamura-kun OAV.  I hope it becomes a series, as I enjoy the manga.  It's a high school drama but a good one.

This season wasn't quite as crap as I thought it would be ...

I'm looking forward to Assassination Classroom and Death Parade ...

Tokyo Ghoul Route A might end up been a disaster ...

Assassination Classroom - Good start. Began with a quicker pace than the manga, which is understandable. I'll be watching this one.

Juuou Mujin no Fafnir - Eh. Another one of these? It's getting worse than the Great Magical Girl Plague period. Exactly what you'd expect from the promotional art. Teenage girls with mysterious powers defend humankind from giant monsters--that is, with the exception of a single teenage boy who transfers to their school and gets called a pervert. A harem seems inevitable, those girls should known to expect that by now. Don't any of these anime characters read manga?

When the teacher said, "girls have such good imaginations," all I could think was, "then why the hell can't they name their abilities and weapons something bloody original instead of simply lifting the same tired-ass terms from mythology like every other anime?"

It doesn't appear to be particularly bad but I feel like I've seen the same scenario dozens of times already. Actually, I think I HAVE seen it dozens of times already.

Hooray for another Infinite Stratos clone ... Rejoice!

Small recap so far:

Milky Holmes - The new director tries his best and almost succeeds in capturing the magic of the original seasons. Definitely worth a watch for MH fans

Absolute Duo - Absolutely forgettable and boring. There are literally thousands of better animes to waste your time with. Drop.

Yuri Kuma Arashi - Another one of the weird ones full of symbolic and with a ridiculous premise. Really fun to watch. Good chances for AOTS.

Miritari - Enjoyable short but rather garden variety than anything special

Kantai Collection - Has pretty much surpassed my expectations. Absolutely competently executed. Should be enjoyable throughout. Don't want to compare it with Strike Witches or Arpeggio. All of them are quite diffrent even though they have a similar premise.

Shinmai Maou no Testament - Generic demon harem but aptly done. Could prove more entertaining than Highschool DxD.

Tokyo Ghoul root A - Starts off strong and has a ballsy OP, which I respect. Looks like it's gonna finally get interesting.

Saekano
- Surprisingly enjoyable and very self aware harem. Looks great, sounds good, enjoyable characters and a good amount of fanservice to top it off. If you only watch one harem anime this season, this is it.

Koufuku Graffiti - Feels like Shinbo has taken a back seat for this one. Barely any of his visual quirks in this one. Enjoyable slice of life with an atmosphere similar to Hidamari Sketch.

Juuou Mujin no Fafnir - See Absolute Duo.

Idolmaster Cinderella Girls - Slow start. Doesn't seem to be much like the original but could become really enjoyable once the cast gets rolling.

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
- Another case of an anime hyped by mainstream that doesn't amount to much. It lives by its premise but has no substance with mediocre direction. I'd rather watch another season of Akuma no Riddle. Will see how it fares in the next episodes but it's definitely a drop candidate.

Death Parade - Looks fun but the first ep was not much to go by of how the anime will play out. I guess it's gonna be very formulaic with a twist at the end. Either way quite enjoyable to watch.
I absolutely love its OP though. It radiates so much fun :)
