Well they didnt allow publishers to release games on other systems if they wanted to keep putting their games on Nintendo systems. Thats why Sega themselves had to publish those games on the Genesis.
They only allowed 5 games per year on their system from any publisher. Konami got around this by creating a new company called Ultra.lol
They overpriced their games. They got sued and had to pay a large fee in the end though.
They just had total market dominance. Not a good thing for anyone except Nintendo.

Thanks! I love history, whether it be videogame history or ancient history, so I appreciate stuff like this, now I might have to do some googling about this subject.
GENEZIZ DOEZ WHAT NINTENDON'T
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
Did Sony ever really engage in much mudslinging aside from the commercials where Crash Bandicoot stood outside NoA headquarters and yelled things through a megaphone?
I mean, they got pretty dirty in the 7th gen, but aside from a bit of rivalry in the earliest PS days, they were largely silent through late PS and all of PS2, only breaking out the negative campaigns (and even then, only in a minor capacity) for the PS3/P

They really didnt need to. Not with that kind of market share.
