This. I understand curbing piracy and avoiding another PSP situation, but charging those insane memory card prices wasn't the way to go. The Vita not being able to do anything without a memory card, and Sony pushing the Vita as a media center didn't help either. 

 Vita is not a very appealing console tbh. A friend of mine bought one with his ps4 and after two weeks he was selling it. My friend only plays fifa, pes and COD, so I know he was not probably the best person to appreciate the array of japanese games the vita gets.

 I kind of thought of buying it to replay dissidia and gravity rush, but after looking at the game library I decided not to. Memory cards are very expensive in my country and since importing adds a 13-50% tax on gaming things it was probably not worthy. 

 For me Vita is a very niche console with a good design, but not the best games for my taste.

Well I said this before and I'll say it again.

Sony had no clear strategy with the Vita. At launch it was a western centric device with no Japanese support and no middleware games to bridge the AAA titles (and some of the AAA games were bad *cough COD cough). Then it became an Indie platform without any AAA games and now its a niche Japanese centric handheld without any western exclusive games.

So aside from the high priced memory cards, Sony failed to strike a balance with the Vita. So its stuck with a stigma that there are no games that appeals to this guy or that gal.

Now Sony's messaging is to make the Vita a companion device for the PS4 instead of being a stand alone device. So unless they plan something big with the PSTV (formerly known as Vita TV) then We should expect less love from Sony in the future. :(

The Vita deserves a lot better. The best hardware on the market IMO, just lacks games and games are the important part of a gaming console :D

Considering that you're the very first person I've seen that has called the vita a ds clone (of all things), I'd say maybe you should avoid speaking for others. That was never its problem.

It's failing because other Portable Systems fanboys hate it and keep saying shit everywhere about it (no games, expensive, no pokemon, no mario, ...) even if they never played it! Also because most of SONY fans are "all I care is about playing games with amazing graphics on ma huge TV"...

Yes SLY Cooper is amazing... So sad Thieves in Time sold so bad... But hopefully it will have a new game tied to the movie in 2016

I also love playing PS1 classics on it, I did beat Tomba! (never ended on the PS1), Gex, Crash Team Racing, and just purchased Tekken 2 (man how could tekken be so good back on the day? Tekken 6 was so meh) and Wild Arms (still need time to start it!)

And there are so many AMAZING Vita games you need to try! Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Persona 4 Golden, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (yes trying it won't hurt you! I had a lot of fun with it and you can get to know many characters from games you missed for hating SONY!), Muramasa Rebirth, Sound Shapes, Dokuro, Destiny Of Spirits (free to play and addictive!), PS2 HD Collections like SLY COOPER (you said you loved it, now go check its roots), Ratchet & Clank (my fav PS2 Classic), Jak & Daxter and GOW...

That's not all, there are many AMAZING games coming out for Vita this year, like Freedom Wars, Tales of Hearts R, Oreshika Tainted Bloodlines and Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
