I think you'll like it quite a bit. Personally, I didn't like the idea of it being on at first but now, I'm cool with it. I even use the HDMI IN and almost never watch TV without the Xbox One being on, now. I have all of the big 7th gen/8th gen consoles and, according to my light bill, I'm using less energy now than a year ago. Don't even know why/how that is. Anyway, welcome aboard. Do like me and go the amazon.com route to get some of the "not quite AAA" titles for cheap. You might be surprised to find that a game like Ryse is quite enjoyable.

I really like your reasoning btw (old Sega fanatic here :)), just hope more of us would be so bold as to try other brands. Myself, I have bought some Sony consoles but never held on to them too much, I just stuck with my XBoxes. Maybe in a few years I´ll take the leap to PS4 :).

The PS4 is going to take awhile to compel me, but for professional reasons, I definitely need to add it to my channel within the next 6 months to a year if I want to stay relevant with it.  Having said that, I DO actually feel a bit bad for PS4 owners, as the holidays only has DriveClub as their primary exclusive (LittleBigPlanet 3 is also on the PS3).  There's no denying the Xbox One has a stronger lineup for the holidays, getting ALL of the same multiplatform titles as the PS4, but adding Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, and Halo: tMCC.  Naturally, that last one is shaping up to be one helluva collection, and as I've been keeping an eye on it, it may become one of the best collections ever made!

I never enjoyed Halo very much, but really loved the OG Xbox. If they ever make a decent MechAssault for XB1 I'll consider it. 1 and 2 on OG were fantastic. I also loved Forza but didn't care for 5. I had an X1 for about a month, and probably played it about 2 hours total. The controller felt cheap and weak. Not really sold on PS4 either yet. Was excited for Destiny but the beta disappointed me, seems the cross gen emphasis really crippled what it could have been. So I may give my preordered Destiny bundle away as a gift, unless Drive Club is awesome. Anyway, hope you have tons of fun with it.
