This is a niche game and it will boost hardware sales as much as every other exclusive that sells somewhere between 500k and 1 million.

I will be getting it digitally.

The answer is both yes and no. Sales will rise week on week on the week SO launches. It is a new generation after all and each new game should cause an uptick in sales. But I expect the uptick will be short lived with no lasting influence on hardware sales.

I do hope the xb one fanbase supports this game, if it turns out to be good. I fear for Insomniac's survival if the game tanks. It feels like ratchet and clank is largely played out as a franchise, even though I want more of it personally. Resistance is gone. So these folks need to find a new successful franchise soon or the doom hammer will fall on them.

Their presence on PS will be missed if they become a MS second party.

I hope so, because the game looks interesting, and it's nice to see MS branch out a bit with supporting a different style of game then what the brand is associated with.

But I think it's mainly going to sell to existing X1 owners rather than pull new ones on board. I look at it as inFamous for the Xbox, a good game that will get decent sales and looks good within the portfolio. But not a real system-seller.

OT: It's hard to say. The Xbox will already be selling becuase of the holdiays. I'll say no, for the simple fact that it doesn't seem like this game is very hyped.

Sunset Overdrive looks like a very fun game, but it'll only push a few units! Nothing more and nothing less!

How would we really know its impact if so many 8th gen games come out around that time?

Happens to many, many IPs/exclusives. Only a few selected ones are system sellers but the others make the library itself just richer and more complete so to convince people to buy a system with a strong library.

It will probably sell well and be received well, but a good game and a system seller are two different games entirely. Average games can sell sysyems, but some good ones don't.

And as mentioned, it will be impossible to tell because of the time it releases.

Its a fun game which might get some good sales from existing users but not a system seller to give boost. This is coming close to big releases so we can't see boosts from this game only due to other games.
