They could do a whole crazy de Blob meets Jet Set Radio thing! I'd be all over that.

Interesting. You look at what they could do to optimize a given angle, I like that. Hope you won't mind me asking how you'd lay out the goals/progression to make the most of the known mechanics. Please take your time, I haven't played Jet Radio and got distracted shortly after starting de Blob. (Very shortly. Still need/want to go back.)

Given that the single player wouldn't need to be overly indepth I could imagine a few challenges scattered about.
Mostly races aganist NPC rivals, timed collection challenges, weapon swap points, scattered stamps, chasing NPC targets, stealth evasion of NPC assaultants, and other cliches that'd carry over well.

Uh, well I'm no game designer, but there could be a few little gangs of these girls that are always trying to 1-up each other by tagging areas around the city. I guess it would be mostly mission based gameplay. You could have more tactical missions where you have to find a specific place in the city to paint, and you could get a higher style score by using your squid powers to find short cuts getting to it or something. There could be more stealth style missions where you have to sneek into a rival gangs turf and paint over their stuff, and using your squid powers to sneek around without them noticing you would get you extra points. Or invasion style missions where an enemy gang is trying to raid and paint over stuff on your turf, and you have to find them and paint them before they get a chance to ruin your work.
Just stuff like that. Tack on a little bit of a story to make things more interesting. Add some funky music. Maybe add some police into the mix. Painting police that are trying to erase your work, or you could be using your squid powers to try and run away from them.
Maybe? I donno. There's a reason Nintendo makes the games and I don't.

Edit: You don't have to make every thread a shit show. Instead of telling us how much you hate this game (which you have never played), comment on the question that was asked in the OP. He didn't ask for your opinion on the game or if you thought there would even be a singleplayer mode. |
Agreed completely, Don't think ive ever seen this guy post anything positive and its getting grating.
I could dig an open world as long as it was reasonably small, like mario sunshine size, not sure how it would be implemented though gameplay wise.
Like other usera have stated, Splatoon doesn't need to be open-world! They should simply focus on polishing all the mechanics and on designing fun maps! That's it...

I don't see how open world would work well with this game, or even really benefit it. I'm sure it will be fun regardless.
I want the game, but I do fear it's not a "forever" game. I think the single player for this is going to end up being lame, which makes the game obsolete after the servers shut down years from now. I really hope i'm wrong though.
Wtf why?
Even a campaign is iffy at best....
