Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Brings Contactless NFC Payments to Japan- Sweet Baby Jehovah!!

I see something like this in the future over here. We're adopting that technology significantly slowly though.

Man, that is just sooo useful!

Along with Smash Amiibo adds, they should add a 5 sec section on "and now pay for digital games using NFC credic cards too!"

"This would definitely contribute to the ease and convenience of the user since inputting payment details on a gamepad is particularly frustrating."

I don't get what they mean by that? How is it frustrating using the gamepad, I found it was much easier than using a regular control to enter credit card info with. I will admit though, using NFC for payments is much simpler,I just find that excuse or reason to be B.S.

Those prototype thumbsticks on the gamepad were ugly as fuck. Thank god they got rid of them...

On topic: Kids are going to abuse that shit lol and why does Japan get all the nice things? :(

No one is question that the Gamepad is superior to regular controllers (well, in this thread or in regards to this stuff); but there is a difference between dwarfing old-school controls for something and being impossible to surpass/dwarf again. This could even lead to awesome 'redeemable gift cards' where you just have to swipe it over the gamepad.

I think it is a cool feature, but......my credit card is already saved in my wii U. I just put in my code and....that is it. I still will want a code even if I had one of these cards.

Buy How to train a dragon 2....

Was it any good? I may purchase once I finish my backlog on Wii U, which keeps growing by the week or every time they release a new indie game that interests me. Almost done with One Piece Red, pretty cool game. I am half way through Wooden Sen'sey and I doubt I will ever be able to beat Bombing Bastards but I keep attempting.

Master Reboot is what I thought The Letter would be from reading the description of the game (The Letter). Quite a disappointment that game turned out to be. Though, I guess we'll soon see the game improve through updates.

I agree NFC is superior, I said so in my post. But the quote came from the article. I find that reason BS. That's all I was pointing out. I think having a better and faster method to pay for online stuff is  good reason enough, no need to make stuff up. Which is what the article pretty much did when it said using the gamepad was frustrating to enter credit card info when most gamers use regular controls and don't really complain about it. Gamepad made it much simpler than a regular controller.

My apologies for my confusion. Thanks.

i can already see the headline's of Kid's running up their parents credit card bills now

Guys, lets get the bigger picture here, ok? Suica cards in japan are commom because is a easy way to pay for the train ticket. So, almost everyone have one, even kids. They are rechargable, it isn't a bill every end of the month, so no big surprises, since the limit is what alreadly is on the card.

Besides, in japan people don't really trhust most of the digital formats, so things like CC are not big there as they are around here. Nintendo is offering a way to people do digital purchases without worry about their data beign stolen. Last year reports about credit card data being stolen from club nitnendo japan generate a alert to change passwords.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
