Forums - Movies & TV - Guardians of the Galaxy

To switch gears a bit going to look at lifetime totals for the films domestically and internationally.

Keep in mind Captain America 2 may add a little to its total and obviously Guardians of the Galaxy has months of data to add.

First examine the first run of the Marvel series

Can see early on all these films went roughly 50/50 domestic versus international. Long exception is Thor which is bit to be expected. Then...the Avengers happened.

Keep in mind these totals were higher domestically, it is internationally where the films really took off.

Now Marvel films do 1/3 domestically and 2/3 internationally. This is very encouraging for Guardians of the Galaxy which still has many markets to open in such as China.

Great, post back here what you thought of it!

Best Marvel movie yet.

Didn't know much about the comic series and characters before watching the film. Quite enjoyed it.

Hard for me to rank an exact order, but would say

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. Avengers
3. Iron Man
4. Captain America 2
5. Thor 2
6. Hulk
7. Captain America
8. Thor
9. Iron Man 2
10. Iron Man 3

Honestly, even the Iron Man sequels which I was not crazy about were okay. Cannot say they've made a terrible film yet.

I agree pretty much exactly with this.  I might switch Hulk, Captain America, and Thor 2 around but that is nitpicky.  Nice job.

Unrelated note...This is the best thing that came out of Iron Man 2 and it was recorded for the Iron Man 2 videogame soundtrack:

The difference is pretty minimal.  Marvel's done a solid job with the films. Very curious if Avengers 2 will live up to expectations and how Ant-Man will turn out with change in director.
