Bravely Second details Guatelatio, Agnes, more
posted on 07.28.14 at 08:16 AM EDT by Thomas James (@iiotenki)
New details from official website.

Coming off the recent Jump article that showcased some new tidbits about Bravely Second, Square Enix has updated the game’s official website, providing more details about a major new location in the game, as well as more insight into Agnes’ role in the sequel and the previous revealed character classes.

Guatelatio

A city that has long been prosperous, Guatelatio sits at the entrance to the highway that leads to the Temple of Earth and the Holy Land. Home to the Crystal Orthodoxy’s headquarters, as well as numerous villas and estates belong to especially faithful aristocrats and various other prominent families, at the northern edge of town sits the Gate of Faith, an important military institution tasked with defending the Holy Land that employs the “Orthodox Knights,” a group that the Orthodoxy holds in high regards.

When the Duchy of Eternia was in its prime, Guatelatio managed to rid itself of the Orthodox Knights and barely attain recognition as autonomous entity, but with the Orthodoxy and Duchy’s relationship taking a turn for the peaceful, the city eventually becomes the former’s official capitol city, bringing with it renewed construction of the cathedral and a return to bustling life in general. There were plans to hold the signing ceremony for the peace treaty in Guatelatio, but things don’t go quite as planned….

Agnes Oblige

Agnes traveled the world with her allies in years past, overcoming numerous troubles and ultimately driving back the Great Void that brought Luxendarc to the brink of calamity. In the wake of the decade-long Passion Period, she miraculously puts the then-collapsing Crystal Orthodoxy back together, ultimately becoming the only fourth pope the Orthodoxy has ever seen and the first one to rise to such a position in centuries. Not only is she on friendly terms with many important players, but she also enjoys massive popularity with the common people and has put her heart and soul into realizing lasting peace between the Orthodoxy and Eternia. However, when the time comes for the peace treaty ceremony, she ends up getting kidnapped.

Jobs

  • Valkyrie – Valkyries are an offensive class that do their dirty work by attacking from mid-air and fleeing. As such, they’re especially potent when BP is spent during their attacks. The recommended weapon for them is a spear.
  • Superstar – Superstars buff up friendly characters by singing them songs, with bolstered stats potentially including, but not limited to, offense, defense, and BP. Given their main role as a buffing job, Superstars are equipped with myriad abilities to get their work done.
  • Time Mage – Time Mages are tacticians who control the flow of time during battles to their advantage. Characters with this job are better able to heal the entire party simultaneously and deal proportional damage relative to the enemies’ HP. Their weapon of choice is the wand.
  • Red Mage – Red Mages can utilize both White and Black Magic. This makes them a hybrid class of sorts that’s well-rounded when it comes to healing and offensive magic, as well as buffs and debuffs.

Bravely Second is in development for 3DS.

YEAH!!!
Very happy... this game is fantastic.

Oh. I thought the Free-To-Play version was a traditional F2P game but instead it's a large demo. That's still cool though!

Good for SE.

But kinda makes me laugh at the ones asking for more turn based and saying XIII flopped. This definetely wouldn't justify a AAA budget.

Also excited to see second launch, and can't wait to have a 3DS

LOL, gotta be crazy to think that. XIII-2 and LR maybe but XIII is the 4th best selling in the series.

IKR, but it still is a common opinion on the internet.
Also happy to see that SE did care about people asking for ATB return.
And FFE being a MH like might do great too

Should do alright, would hope it passes 1m WW too.

That is mighty impressive for a new IP; JRPG in particular. Bravely Second sounds great as well; hopefully we will get it sooner rather than later!
