Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Destiny overhyped like Titanfall??

I hear a lot of predictions that it will do GTA numbers, but I would say it will do close to what Watch Dogs has done. So some people overhype it IMO, but I think it will do well and have at least one sequel.

Activision signed Bungie to a decade long contract. It will definitely become another Activision milked franchise if it does well enough. Since the game has a huge marketing budget it can pull off Watch Dogs numbers but unless the other shooters releasing this year flop it won't do GTA numbers. The game is overhyped to an extent though.

Probably. Maybe. I dont know. I played the beta for about 30 minutes. It was fun enough...

This is game of the year. Titanfall was a flash in the ban. Even the BETA for Titanfall let most people know it was a pos game. This is not the same kinda game, but Titanfall is nothing compared to Destiny. Destiny is the game of the year by far.

I think people are just insane. New franchises all suck and are unimaginetive, Sequals are just rehashes and companies milking franchises, remasters/remakes are a waste of development resources and a cash grab, indie titles a waste of time and people don't spend $400 on a device to play them, motion/kinect games were a fad and to casual, VR is another industry push like 3D, it will fade off in a couple of years.

I feel sorry for all the people that feel this way.

I have had a great time with Titanfall, Watchdogs, and the Destiny Beta. Titanfall suffered from a lack of content, and being exclusive to MS platforms which are not at their hotest currently, but the franchise has huge potential, and I look forward to a second, and hopefully it will make it to more systems. Watchdogs I found to be very enjoyable. I was not going into looking for life changing experience, and I had no issue with the graphics. Again, I thought it was a brilliant first game in a franchise, and see potential for great sequals should they continue.

Finally, Destiny. I spent 7 hours with the beta, only played 1 MP match, and did not visit the moon. From the news I have read I have only seen about 5% of the game, and only at a beta level experience. So far I enjoeyed what I played, but I have no intention of judging this game based on what I saw.

I think people need to calm down and remember how to enjoy gaming, or just take a break and experience the real world. There are so many good things happening in gaming right now, and so much more to come. It blows me away. I am the happiest I have ever been as a gamer, and I have been gaming since 1992. These games are not overhyped, a portion of the gaming community has just went off the tracks.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I've been playing the Beta, and it's kind of an evolution of your typical corridor shooter. As long as people have their expectations in check, it shouldn't be too disappointing. It's pretty good for what it is, but what it is isn't revolutionary.

Titanfall isn't a POS game, it has some of the best gameplay of first person shooters. It just lacked content. Destiny is a solid experience but posts like these prove how overhyped it really is.

Destiny seems to be a better game than Titanfall and will probably have good sales, but it will be forgotten a few month after launch. Titanfall and Destiny are like movie blockbusters. They are only fun for a short time. No one will speak of this years Transformer movie next year.

I wouldn't say Titanfall faded away. It did well enough and we would hear more about it if it were on PS4 or Nintendo. Xbox fans are the least vocal on here so it seems as if it faded away.

Destiny is A LOT bigger than this. Not only is it multiplat but also from an actual high profile developer AND publisher. It even has the chance to become a new WoW or Minecraft at least relative to what it is.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm pretty sure it will be the better game though

Overhyped? Yes.

The beta was a really fun experience though.
