Forums - Sony Discussion - Planning on getting a PS3 and need some help

So just have some questions for it. Which version should I buy? What games should I get with it? Should I wait for an upcoming price cut? Just tell me what to do won't be getting it until around Christmas but would like to know

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Well... If I were a smart investor and potentially thinking about my finances... I would get a slim ps3 (not the new one) with firmware lower than 3.55 although if u get one thats 3.55, it would be the best for backing up reasons that is

Or you can get a bundle which I am sure there will be a lot of this chirstmas anyway

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Super slim with 500 gigs. All the bundles will be with this model anyway.

I own a 60GB and a love it for the bc, but if you get a good PC then you can play all PS2 games upscaled to look better than the HD remasters, just not in wide screen.

I also own a slim PC, the first one because I like the design of it over the new one. There are three reasons I own the slim. One reason is the fat PS3 has issues on some games and will crash on those games every single time. No idea what's wrong, but those games will play for a few minutes and crash. Have tried formatting it, everything. Everything else works perfect. The other thing is the fat PS3s also double as a space heater. It's good to hook the fat PS3 and play it in the winter when it's cold, but even with the air conditioner on, it can make a whole room seem hot in the summer.  The slim PC also uses a lot less energy, so saves on the electricity bill when keeping it on to play games, watch Netflix, etc.

Sony wants to do everything possible to push people towards the PS4, so I wouldn't hold your breath for a major PS3 price cut. The stress it causes trying to decide to wait for a price cut or not isn't worth the $50 you might save. Just go for it and love your console!

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Regarding the games, I think you should get the following games:  Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Infamous 2, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, God of War III and LittleBigPlanet!

Slim.

probably slim for cheapest.

What type of games you prefer? The list is too vast, but I'm sure you'll find something you like.

If you're looking for a new console I recommend 500gig Super Slim with a game.

A second hand Slim model would be better because they are more reliable though, I think Slims models had up to 500gig as well, but a 320gig was fine for me and I have a ton of digital games.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Which version should I buy?

Slim, not super slim

What games should I get with it?

First of all you should buy PS+. It's such a good deal. It made me not to buy games on PS3.

Should I wait for an upcoming price cut?

Just go, now. Trust me. It's good for you.

Games you should buy:
Uncharted 2 (best game ever)
God of war 3
inFAMOUS 2
inFAMOUS
Journey
Burnout Paradise
Borderlands 2
Just Cause 2
LittleBigPlanet
GranTurismo 6
Tombraider
Red Dead Redemption
Uncharted 3
Killzone 3
Darksiders
Darksiders II

I'm a big fan of Resistence (1,2,3) but they are not must play titles.
