VC on Wii U is lame. The Wii had an amazing VC, it's hard to top that.

I buy all my classic games in real form instead of ROM form anyway so it's no sweat off my back. Imo, playing retro games on a modern console with a controller that wasn't even designed for them is always going to be a watered down experience.

how so? im struggling to see the sense in what you are saying. If you mean retro im assuming stuff like NES and then you were only working with a dpad and two buttons. Not sure how it would be watered down since modern controllers can accomedate that no problem at all. The only way it would be an issue IMHO when you get into N64 terriority  and above and even then modern controllers can and have covered those.

First off, ROMS are never 100%. So there's that. Secondly, playing SMB3 with a real NES controller feels completely different than using a classic controller with dual analog sticks. And third, the games look different on an HDTV.

Plus, there's the whole abstract sensory thing. Playing NES or SNES carts on a real machine on a CRT tv with a real controller is just, you can't get better than that. There's something about it that I can't put into practical words but to me, it makes all the difference. It's like, the real thing vs. a clone sorta deal.

Maybe it's because I actually grew up in the mid-late 80's and played all of these things as they launched on their original hardware. I don't know.

I kinda get what you're saying.... The only times I play a re-release of a classic game is when the re-release is actually much better than the original game( take the PS3/360/PC port of Sonic CD for example!)

good. Sega sees value in the retro game market.

nothing is 100% me personally ive never had an issue with roms yet. Ive been using them for a while too. and of course the controls feel different. but does it really matter? it gets the job done and you dont have to play with the sticks, they have dpads. So im not seeing how its all that different. But to each his own. I like having access to a large library without having to either hunt down an old system and games or having to pay Ninty's expensive and quite frankly not all that VC.

See, I'm too much of a purist for that. Even when a game is transformed from 4:3 to 16:9 so it fits on our HDTVs, to me, that's a different game. The art has been changed. The experience is different. When I want to play a game like Sonic CD, I want to play it on a Sega CD with a Genesis controller like I did back in the 90's. I want to experience the original thing in the way it was meant to be experienced.

I bought the Sega Genesis collection on 360. The one with all the Sonics, Comix Zone, Ristar etc? And while I did play and beat alot of those games, it just doesn't feel right. Being able to use save states ruined the challenge. Using a 360 controller (actually, I used a PS2 controller via adaptor because the 360 d-pad is a freakin' nightmare) just left me wanting a Genesis controller instead.

I have to have the real deal or I'm just not content. That's why I stopped spending my money on them. I'd rather save up for the carts.

I miss those days, sometimes. In my last semester on campus, I hit the jackpot by having all three roommates in my suite be big gamers, by pure luck. One of them was a huge Mega Man fanboy, another a huge RPG fan, and the last was a cool guy with rich parents who bought every single Nintendo and Xbox game and peripheral known to man. I got to play so many games I never would have been able to try otherwise. And to top it off, my girlfriend (who is now my fiancee) also happened to stay in the room directly above mine on the second floor, so we'd communicate by knocking on the floor/ceiling. :) Good times.

Haha, truely. This is my last year, so I'm almost out. Most of my friends aren't gamers though.

I don't like Sega games so I don't mind.

No problems with this. Nintendo releases to few games now and additional plattforms would just make it less likely that they will release something i want

Remember when Sega made Sonic 4 for Wii Ware and Xbox Live Arcade? That was a great idea.. Not retro re releases but new downloadable titles for current consoles.
Is it too much to ask for Streets of Rage 4? Sega I'm begging you!!!!! Make it 2D with great graphics and online co-op and consider me tickled pink....Then make Golden Axe 4 and Altered Beast 2 while you're at it....
