Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Destiny Will Not be the Next Call of Duty...

Unlike EA making the decision to focus a game series around the premise of "being the next CoD" and ruining it (BF series being totally ruined starting with the release of 3), Bungie is making something that is different than CoD. I agree that it won't do CoD numbers as it is not dudebro, military, twitch gameplay and does not really cater towards the same demographic. It is definitely not trying to be CoD.

Nope it will be the next Borderlands and expect Borderlands to rip off a lot of what Destiny is doing.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

-Too complicated for average joe to master

-No PC release (that I know of)

-No nintendo fanbase (Call of Duty was/is on Nintendo platforms)

-Gives a more hardcore vibe where as Call of Duty gives more of a casual vibe

-So many shooters on Market these days

This franchise will do Halo Numbers on the New systems but not Call of Duty numbers. The industry just doesnt need any more shooters I dont think. Maybe I am wrong! The industry is leaning toward open world games and this is kinda open world so it might who knows?

Point 1. I don't get how it's so complicated honestly. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but nothing like most RPGs.

Point 2. Completely invalid. Many COD titles aren't on the wii at all, and the ones that are had poor sales

Point 3. Same as point 1. I could see hardcore and casual getting into this. I don't see how this is only a hardcore game. Very few games are like that honestly.

Point 4. This works against COD just as much as it does Destiny, if not more so because at least Destiny is new.

If Destiny did Halo numbers, it would be a massive success, and more successful than Call of duty. I'm not sure if destiny will be the next COD. But I think that because many people night not want it. The market is somewhat confusing.

Bolded ain't true, at least comparing with Sony/MS. Of the top of my head I can only remember Modern Warfare 2 not being on Nintendo platform. Let me see if I'm correct:

CoD 3 - check (Wii)

CoD: world at war - check (Wii)

CoD: modern warfare (reflex edition) - check (Wii)

CoD: modern warfare 2 - Wasn't on any Nintendo system

CoD: modern warfare 3 - check (Wii)

CoD: black ops - check (Wii)

CoD: black ops 2 - check (WiiU)

CoD: ghosts - check (WiiU)

I can't remeber any more CoDs on consoles and I think I've covered them all, but maybe I'm missing any of them? Was CoD 2 was on any console? PS2/Xbox?

Even if I'm missing something, 7 out of 8 or 9 surely isn't "many".

Saying this let me add that the most fun I had on a CoD on a console was CoD: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition (consoles should have stick with motion controls, it was perfect for some types of games, like FPS).

As for the rest, I agree with you although I'm pretty sure a few of those sold decently (not great, but decent), Nintendo platforms had/have little to no impact when it comes to CoD.

To think that Destiny actually gets called "too complicated" and "hardcore" makes me shed a tear at the state of modern gamers

It made me laugh a little actually. But yea, it's kinda sad when you think about it.

You're forgetting the best one... COD4. So you're right, I guess many wasn't the right termanology.

And most of the COD games on nintendo systems have sold somewhere around .7-1.5 million. For a console that's sold as much as it has, that's a pretty bad install base. And I think that this info still shows that nintendo hasn't been pivotal in the success of the Call of duty franchise.

The game isn't open world. Like, at all.

Nhà, COD will death, and Destiny will disintegrate.

Good. The last thing we need is this franchise seeing that yearly mediocre release (although the type of game doesn't allow for that)

Who knows what activision has planned.... If it's succesful you sure as hell know theyll have a crack at making it yearly

This is a story drien game, its not the same as upgrading the graphics a bit and put a $60 price tag, this will take time. Second they already said they planed to have story dlc or expasions so this will go on for years.

No one said it's going to be the new cod.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I see destiny being bigger than cod. For one reason, cod does sell great but only for a few months then nobody cares for that type of game, but a story driven game like destiny with expansion coming in the future that keep the game a live and has more then one playmode will keep selling for years. So yea cod will probably outsell it this year and for a few months ahead, but in the long run, destiny should end up selling a lot more than coc.
