Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apple frustrated with "mentality" in mobile market

That's the reality of mobile gaming. Is Apple just finding this out?

A smart phone is NOT a necessity. Unless you're refering to the mindset of the average joe.

The process was slower and way less efficient.

Before the business guy had to go to his home or the office to check the the email, if an emergency comes out, he would have to wait longer periods of times to respond. Before this was done with a simple call, but what if the problem at hand needs a file? you have to send it via email.

Another example, let's say you have a big important interview with a client, but because of traffic you can reach the office in time, so you use Skype on your phone and have the interview.

Another, you connect to a server via remote access and again you are in a stuck in traffic, you can connct with your phone to that remote server and start working.

Can't a laptop be used for most if not all of that as well though?

Besides those are only in certain cases, for the majority of people an iphone wouldn't be necessary.

Is more convenient to use the phone. Laptops can hold delicate information. I for example work as a software developer, all my project files are in the office's laptop, all that information is stored there; if the laptop gets stolen or it breaks outside of the office I can lose some of my work, with the phone I don't lose anything since I'm only accessing the info online.

That's why I said at first "for some people". Most teenagers don't really need a smartphone, but in today's world, a business man definitely needs it.

Depends on your job, really: I basically couldn't do mine without one, and a lot of places insist on having one as part of the employment. That said, they're definitely not necessary for 90% of folks: children in particular.

That's funny, since they're the ones who created that whole ecosystem and the mentality that goes with it.

I agree!  I am perfectly happy with my old-ass Nokia phone..

Are you referring to the phone that can break any brick wall you throw it into?

I'm talking about a Nokia phone which came out in 2004-2006.. I'm not sure if it's able to break brick walls though..

Maybe a landline but not mobile. You don't NEED to be reachable when you're at the store buying a frozen pizza, you just WANT to be. You don't NEED to be able to google how to spell a word when you're walking with your friend, but you WANT to have that ability. You don't NEED turn by turn nav, you just WANT it.

There is a difference. And I'm not being a snob, I own an iPhone like everyone else. But I know damn well I don't need it. It's a luxary.

LOL I do not care.

Free or NOTHING! I spend on CONSOLE games.......duh. And 99% of those mobile ones are extremely bad and not worth 30+hrs on.
