I've been looking at FromSoftwares games and not including the Souls series, they have made some terrible to mediocre games. Looking at

Armored Core: Verdict Day (Average)

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor (That really terrible Kinect Game)

Armored Core V (Average)

Ninja Blade (Average 360 exclusive)

Armored Core: For Answer (Average)

Armored Core 4 (Average)

Chromehounds (Average 360 exclusive)

Enchanted Arms (Average)

Shadow Assult: Tenchu (Bad XBLA title)

And by Average, their metacritic scores were around 60-70. None of them over 75+.

And then came Demon's Souls, scored 89, and for me personally, I think it is one of the best games ever. So when Bloodborne was revealed I saw comments like I'll buy anything from FromSoftware and I thought, I wouldn't buy everything, only the Souls games. I mean if you look at it, from making 60-70 games to a 89+ is impressive but they had help from Japan Studios and then they took the basics of Demon's Souls and  made Dark Souls I & II which scored 90+.  So what do you think of FromSoftware? Do you think they owe Sony for being, what some people think very good developers, giving FromSoftware a very successful series?Would you buy any of their future games if they weren't Souls games?

A lot of people love Armored Core, it's a hardcore series if there was ever one. Demon's Souls was all From Software with Sony almost rejecting it entirely.

demons souls was co-developt by sony and souls series use sonys engine.

Never thought about it, but you are right, Demon´s souls was their first good game.

Do we even know the extent that Japan studio helped with Demon Souls?  For all we know they only helped with graphics or something, or the game would have turned out almost the same except it would have taken longer to develop without the help. 

Oh yeah, I remember playing Armored Core on my PS2, it was really fun but their recent Armored Core games have not been as good, for me personally. And by Average I mean it's not like one of the best games ever or it's not terrible, don't buy it. It's in between, buy it for $20 something like that.

Idk, I think From Software made the games. Plus they were known for Armored Core long before Souls.

It would be like saying MS made Epic Studios a well respected studio imho.

I have always been a fan of FromSoftware since Lost Kingdoms 2 on Gamecube.

Demon Souls and Dark Souls just gave the company more attention.

Isn't it known that MS just published the games and nothing else? Where Sony actually had their own employees work on their game. But if you look at it, their best game ever at that time was with the help of Sony.

EDIT: I'm looking at the Wikia and it says SCE Japan Studio actually developed the game but MS is just the publisher, they aren't listed as developers.

i can easily agree with that first statement (in fact for me its the best souls game so far, but im hoping Bloodborne surpasses it although it is more of an "evolution" of the soul series rather than a "souls" game).

on the second statement... i know SCEJ codeveloped the game with From, but i dont know what they did so its hard to judge, maybe they helped Fromsoftware by explaining them or helping them "master" the cell procesor (which was a big problem with the PS3) or maybe they actually helped with level design, enemys, bosses or anything else, but at the end of the day we will never be certain and therefore we cant give a clear answer to that question.

the only thing we can say is that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan helped create one of the best games of last gen.
