Forums - Politics Discussion - Israel-Palestine Conflict: The Full Explanation.

Here's my two cents on the issue.

I know my view is kinda brutal, but I mean no disrespect to all the innocent people who have died.

The Israel/Palestine conflict is a joke. The fact that two neighbouring countries are still killing over a slight variation in their understanding of "god" is an absolute shit stain on modern society. The only way I can see them ever moving towards peace is if the UN completely dismantles both nations, and all the historical landmarks they're fighting over are completely destroyed. It sucks, but if they're gonna act like children, they need to be treated like children.

Makes me sick what is happening over there.

Fuck fact, I was in Bradford today, the 6th largest City in the UK, and the council were flying a Palestinian flag.

That reminds me of people on twitter and facebook saying "#freepalestine"...when most of them probably don't even know where Palestine is on the map...

Serious question though....did Hamas got power democratically?

Yes.

In the 2006 elections for the Palestinian parliament Hamas won a significant majority over Fatah (much to the despair of Israel and the US).  After the elections the sides were unable to reach a power sharing agreement.  In 2007 violence broke out with Hamas taking control of Gaza and Fatah taking control of the West Bank.

Prior to the current conflict in April this year Hamas and Fatah agreed to further democratic elections later in 2014.

This war never ends because both sides claim the same holy land.

Will be interesting to see the results of that election. Although Hamas has too much influence over the Palestinians, so unfortunately I don't see the situation changing much.

The conflict is not really religion vs religion. It's more one national identity vs another national identity over land and culturally significant locations that they both lay claim to.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I read most of the comment. I won't respond to any since not one has been able to argue against officials facts and reports from both UN, Israel and Palestine which I'm using. You are free to share your own version however.

But please let's not make it about "Israhell" or "Hamas terrorists" these are used up buzzwords and completely unfactual tropes being repeated like parrots with not grounded value or truth.

If the Palestinian people choose to elect Hamas in a democratic election then the rest of the world needs to respect that.  One of the problems in the current situation is that the West pushed for democratic elections in Palestine, then when they happened they complained that the wrong party won.  While viewed almost exclusively as a terrorist organisation by the West, Hamas won the respect of the Palestinians through their charitable and social work.

Your posts is a history lesson, there are a few things I'm not sure if they are correct or not, but I sadly don't have the time to make research.

In any case, history lessons aren't really meaningful if you want to talk about the current conflict, you know about the origins of the conflict and why it has been like that for almost 60 years, but it doesn't talk about the things that are happening as we speak about Hamas and the IDF. And if you want 100% factual arguments, then there's no point in making this thread in the first place....the only way would be waiting a few years when this current conflict is well documented and researched.

By the way: "Following the alleged kidnapping of three Israelis teenagers that has now been declared to have nothing to do with the Hamas" where did you find this info? who made that official statement?

Considering the fact that there are Christians/etc. on both sides, it's not really religion vs. religion.
