Of course they will make that prediction. They aimed low so the investors would see that and they can say "Oh look, we beat our forecast by *M units sold" or whatever.
They are going to release shipped numbers..... So at the end of of July they've probably shipped 1 million
so here's my shipped numbers prediction for each FY quarter
Q1/Apr. to Jun.- 890,000 (Mario Kart 8 boost)
Q2/ Jul. to Sep.- 1,295,000 (MK8 boost lags off)
Q3/Oct. to Dec.- 4,310,000 (Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Captain Toad, Holiday boost)
Q4/Jan. to Mar.- 4,805,000 (Smash Bros. still has an ok boost + one of the 2015 games)
So yes... easily! It will get close to 5 million shipments most likely
They'll make it. And probably go a good little bit past that goal.
But it'd have been a lot easier for them if not so many of the big department stores had stopped carrying the Wii U. Christmas will be a little meager compared to the ones they've had the past many seasons.

With the amount of Wii U games comming in the first 1/2 of 2014, we will definantaly see at least 2 game from Jan 2015 to Mar 2015

Oh and I forgot about the 2015 releases. With the amount they have for the first 6 months (1. Maio Maker, 2. Mario Party 10, 3. Kirby, 4. Yoshi, 5. Xenoblade, 6. M vs. DK) We will at least see 2 before the fisical year isup. so if we add, oh 500k we could definatly get 3.6, or even up to 4.1 Million units!
I'd say a reasonable figure is 5,1 million units this fiscal year.

Well from 2.7m to 3.6m with MK and Smash Bros isn't that unlikely.
Well considering 4 Million (shipped) would still be depressing... They should easily hit that mark, maybe even 5 mil.. and they will be able to boast about exceeding expectations.. But in the end, yes I think it will easily meet and exceed expectations.
It'll probably surpass it. Wii u should sell nearly 600k in a week during the holidays.
