Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's 3.6 mil forecast for Wii U - will they achieve it?

Ha, Destiny will be the only one to dominate this holiday? LOL We'll see buddy. Smash Bros. is their competition.

I believe that they'll achieve this goal. Reason for that is because MK8 boost is still continuing and if this continues until Hyrule Warrior comes out then the install base of Wii U sales probably boost, or has a short time of moment. Then Bayonetta, that will be a huge boost and probably have another update of the Wii U install base, Captains Toad, slightly increases, and finale would be Smash Bros in the Holidays if it releases on time. Great time would be around before Black Friday or before Christmas. So it achievable! :D

Heh. I really don't see them missing this one unless the holidays go badly wrong somehow.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

When was the last time Nintendo actually meet their forecast? 3.3 million probably.

This time is more plausible. I mean, their last forecast said they would ship around 9 million Wii Us if I'm correct... it's just incredible that they believed that was possible, considering the low hype the console had, underwhelming launch titles for everybody and poor marketing.

This time however they got Mario Kart, Smash, titles already released, the Bayonetta promotion, Hyrule Warriors and the hype generated during the E3 of this year. Even if the PS4 and Xbox One are already around, I think they are going to achieve the quantity. It's not possible, it's more than obvious.

Yeah, and when they revised the forecast last year, they still missed it by 200k. Holidays are going to be a lot harder for the Wii U now. If they do make that forecast, I would not be surprised if they stuff the channels to do so.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Ps4 hype is dead

Destiny hype isn't.

To achieve the forecast it won't be hard. Like I say, Mario Kart and Smash are more than enough to push the console during holidays, enough to make those 3.6.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

i wont be surprised if they achieve 5M.

3.6 million? That's it? Wow.....

I think the wii-u should be able to make that figure - though it's a pretty depressing figure really, but what can they do... I think Amibo or whatever it's called has the best chance of pushing hardware for them, but as others have said, Destiny will just kick ass this Holiday... anyone who doesn't think that, well they must only be interested in Nintendo consoles, because its going to be massive.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

He said they were conservative.

That way, if they pass it by hitting 4 million or whatever, he'll look good. If he predicted 9 million again, and then they shipped 5 million, he'd look like a failure.
