Forums - Sony Discussion - The 30 FPS Lock in The Last of Us Remastered Enables ‘Higher-Quality Shadows In-Game’

ummm interesting go on.

Nothing much else to say, really. I'm surprised they can't even get a linear game like TLOU to 60FPS stable. Now, it was built for a different PC architecture and X86 is ineffiecient for graphical things, but it does give one basis for concern on the prospect of Uncharted 4 not being able to run at a stable 1080p/60FPS and we may again see 1080p/30FPS with the ability to unlock it to 60FPS at the sacrifice of other graphical fidelity.

If naughty dog cant take advantage of PS4 hardware with last gen port how can they deliver E3 type graphjics?

Really?  There is only so much one can do with a cross gen port compared to ground up game for the newer hardware.  This would be like seeing the God of War collection on PS3 and questioning if God of War 3 visuals were possible on the system.

I have no doubt Uncharted 4 will be a significant visual leap over The Last of Us.  That said I would still be very impressed if they come close to what they showed of Drake at E3.

First answer to the thread nails it. When youre remastering somethign the basic is already done on another less powerfull hardware, and you can use the extra power you have to add some stuf, but its still not the same as building a game for the newer system form the ground up. Theyre also doing this remaster in like 8 months or so wich means theyre not gona keep trying to improve the visuals forever, it has to be done fast they cant just dig deep to get more power from the console they dont have the time.

.. okay then take Jleack out of the equation..

you still have one of the lead programmers telling you they added in effects to the 30fps version for a better for both worlds.

We got the milliseconds down and found we had room to add features so we give everyone best of both worlds.

I've heard it only happens once and it falls to 55 fps. Oh noes!! The dreadful horror!!! Seriously, do your research first or otherwise, you're just blowing hot air as you've just did.
