My tradition lies with Pokemon and that has been to never select a fire starter. Of the Kanto starters I always picked Squirtle, Johto I picked Totodile, Hoenn Treecko, Sinnoh Turtwig, Unova Snivy, and Kalos Froakie. A straight 3-3 tie between water and grass but wait...how have I broken my own tradition? Well, I decided to pick Charmander of the starters given to me by Professor Sycamore after realising it's Mega Evolution potential (I can only get Charizard X but will be able to get Charizard Y through an event at my local GAME) and I should also be able to carry over my Blastoise at somepoint to shake things up a bit if I want a different Mega Evolution in my team.

Pokemon X has been very enjoyable so far and at the moment I will try and encorporate my eventual Greninja and Charizard in my main team! The Elite Four and Champion awaits me! 

So, you've never got to use the awesome Charmender up until this point? That simply bugs me so much!

I guess I've always preferred Squirtle but now is the perfect chance to pick Charmander and experience something new! 

Charizard X and Y are quite formidable competitively speaking :)

Glad to hear that.. Just wait until your Charmeleon evolves into a Charizard! Trust me, you'll love that Pokemon!

How about Pokemon Yellow when you started with Pikachu and then got all the other original starters?

Charizard is a beast. You missed out on alot. Charizard, Typhlosion and Infernape are great and fun Pokemon to play with. Its a shame I haven't touched the last 2 fire starters, but Emboar and Delphox aren't really my thing. Fire really is a fun type to use.

My fav each Gen has been Charizard, Feraligatr, Sceptile, Infernape, Samurrot, and Chesnaught.

There have been some great fire starters that you've missed out on, Charmander being the favourite of course. I wish I hadn't chose Fennekin though, its last evolution is so stupid.

Isn't the actual official tradition to always take a fire starter? You've been living your whole life wrong.
