Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will MS remove the HDMI in and cable TV support?

Will they remove these features?

They will, soon. 15 13.64%

They will, eventually (new SKU?) 42 38.18%

They won't. 53 48.18%

Total:110

It seems to me it's the last thing that can be removed to complete the 180.

It might not cost much, but when you're expecting to sell millions of units every little adds up, and they might be tempted to remove something not many people seem to use (e.g., Sony removing USB ports from PS3).

Also, getting rid of TV support might free up some resources from the OS that they can redirect towards games.

I see this as a possibility in the future iteration (slim version).
But then all they need is to slant the sides a little, and have an exact replica of PS4 with slightly weaker specifications.

I believe they will know best when they gather the info on the actual usage of the feature.

Well if Nintendo could remove the gamecube and Online from the Wii, im pretty sure MS could easily remove the TV stuff if it meant a significantly cheaper console.

I expect they are collecting analytic's on this, and if their seeing low rates of connections to HDMI In, they could bring a new SKU.

Maybe next time when they do a price cut, they will remove it

Thinking about it id actually prefer it if they could just do a SKU where the image would pass through even when the X1 is in standby, if they plan on keeping it.

I think so, but it'll go quietly, maybe alongside another price drop or a bundle.

And their new slogan will be: "It only does Games"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Heck no... I mean, that'd be crazy. It's a big part of the XOne.

Just like the Kinect I guess, so maybe there's a chance it'll happen.

No, why would they unless they want to accelerate their price cuts and reduce losses while they're at it. But I don't see them needing to do that. And as they can tell from the Kinectless price cut, it wouldn't work very well.

First no real 180 has been done it's just a big word console war mongers like to use to flatter their ego, only the approach has been change. A lot of the original plan is still there and a lot is yet to come and heavily expected by the community... You just have to check on the user voice and half of what is asked was in the original plan...
beside the 24h check, the online DRM and package Kinect everything has been kept implemented differently or slightly postponed.. I'd hardly call that a 180 in reality very little has been changed... Beside pleasing retailers which are the true gamers enemies anyway

now I don't see why they would take out an HDMI in port, it doesn't cost shit and it doesn't influence the OS either... It would cost them more to redesign the console and change the OS... So I highly doubt it... The OS for sure since 5million++ with it have it already..

but then again who knows... The useless whiners might wanna go for a 540° of uselessness LOL
