The IP of Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, GameFreak, and Creatures INC. Nintendo owns Creatures INC and owns majority shares of GameFreak.
Nintendo owns GameFreak and Pokemon, and has owned them for nearly 20 years.

yeah lets pretend that SONY doesnt own first party studios that develop games and NEW IPS every generation... yeah SHADOW OF THE COLLOSUS, ICO, UNCHARTED, THE LAST OF US, GOD OF WAR, GRAN TURISMO, KILLZONE, INFAMOUS, LITTLE BIG PLANET, THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON, MOTORSTORM, and the new DRIVECLUB, FREEDOM WARS, THE ORDER 1886 among others... yeah lets pretend all of those games dont exist... or they were bought like Microsoft bought HALO or GEARS... no there is no way that SONY studios developed those games/S Also Demons Souls may not have been made entirely by SONY but the reason why SONY owns the DeS IP is because SCEJ actually contributed in the development of the game, it was both From AND SCEJ that developed said game... |
Its just that many of the franchises they have were not made by Sony themselves.
Resistance
Ratchet & Clank
Infamous
Sly
Heavenly Sword
LittleBigPlanet
Killzone
SOCOM
Wipeout
Heavy Rain
Beyond: Two Souls
They are Sonys IPs, but Sony didnt make them...

Sony owns the name, sure enough, but their own people didn't create it or have any hand in the story or the game. Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft IPs when said as such usually, at least to me, refers to 1st party studios. And ICO/SotC is still one IP. We really shouldn't care about shitty IPs, delete them from all lists and lets see what it looks like. Though they have to be objectively trash as in non-functional like Knack and Beyond. |
Doesnt matter, Sony owns the IP so its there franchise and yes i agree that ICO/SotC should be one as it is the same franchise under different titles.
And stop bashing Knack! :D I actually havent heard a bad thing about that game from anyone other than reviewers. The general consensus seems to be that it's a solid game, not great nor bad. Beyond on the other hand is mixed, i thought it was good while others though it was dreadful, and others found it to be great. If you go look at it's metascore you'll see that the reviews range from 2 to 10.

Killzone is developed by Guerrila Studios who were bought by SONY in 2005 therefore the Studio is now a PART of SONY and works for Sony its not second party or third party it is now first party...
Wipeout is developed by Psygnosis a developer who was aquired by Sony back in 1993 and later renamed as Sony Studio Liverpool,.... so guess what now they are Sony employes and therefore First Party...
Infamous and Sly are developed by Sucker Punch studio that was bough by Sony back on 2002 (prior to Sly original release) so guess what? they are now first party (Sony employes developing those games...)
SOCOM is developed by ZIPPER INTERACTIVE who are a part of SONY so... yeah first party as well...
Little Big Planet is developed by Media Molecule, studio that is owned by SONY so they are FIRST PARTY, and therefore it is a game made by SONY... they are Sony employes...
in other words even some of the games that you named are actually made by Sony first party... which pretty much shows that you know very little about those games and Sony.
And yeah all the others are made by second or third party... so what?? because those games were not made by SONY are we now gonna shit on Sonys Studios and say they dont make games???, are we gonna pretend that the hughe ammount of games that Sony Studios have created/developed during generations dont exist or dont count???, are we gonna ignore that Sony has provided great new Franchises form first party every generation???...
SONY (FIRST PARTY) STUDIOS HAVE BEEN MAKING NEW IPS AND SUPPORTING (SOME) OF THE OLD ONES EVERY GENERATION.
EDIT: The fact that some exclusive games were made by second or third party DOESNT eliminate the amount of exclusive games made by SONY First Party every generation...

Sony developers far more games than Nintendo does. How does this argument even work?
