Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bayonetta and Devil's Third are a good start.

Bayonetta and Devil's third are a good way to start reaching out to "mature" gamers. They offer your typical blood, guts, sex, drugs, and rock and roll you'd expect from PS or XB, and they're exclusives. I'm well aware they don't appeal to your typical Nintendo fans and likely won't go gangbusters in sales, but I think it's smart for Nintendo to reach out for more audiences.

If the few third party titles they get aren't likely to sell well anyway, then they should at least try to pull in a few from outside the Nintendo fold. At least that way their audiences don't overlap with their first party titles, potentially helping hardware sales more than another brightly colored, kids friendly, platformer game.

I think it's also a smart idea for Nintendo to try and salvage games like they did with Devil's Third. It allows them to pad out their lineup with games that may already have hype and could take less time to finish developing than a title starting from scratch. Are there more gritty titles that need to be salvaged though?

Well they could help Crytek out I guess...

My prediction is that Bayonetta 2 will sell 1.8 million lifetime.

I don't know Devil Third...

Gotham by Gaslight would be pretty sweet, in my opinion.

Why was I thinking they sold Crysis to EA?

Maybe they did. I dont know

Bayonetta 2, certainly. A lot of people liked the first one. I didn't care for it but it definitely has a unique vibe. If it does well, it could convince publishers to finance a Wii U version for select third party titles. If it doesn't, big deal. It's a risk well worth taking.

Devil's Third? Eh. Looks very forgettable. I assure you, Playstation and Xbox fans were not impressed by the footage shown at E3. Hyrule Warriors is much more important than Devil's Third.

For a lot of Playstation/Xbox owners, the lack of genre depth on Nintendo consoles is a major issue. Adding atypical content can only help.

Not really a lack of genres. It just doesnt have 50 of each...
