Forums - Gaming Discussion - Destiny Beta PS3 vs Xbox 360 Screenshot Comparison: Many Similarities, Quite a Few Differences

As currently especially the new-gen consoles get media hype and comparisons are made between PS4 and Xbone versions of Destiny, people seem to forget that the game was set to release on PS360 and this can still be seen at how Destiny looks on new-gen hardware.

As PS4 currently seems to have a small edge over Xbone due to beta-resolution of Xbone being rendered at 900p, let's take a look at the two consoles with a way higher install base, PS3 and 360. Which will perform better?

First, a gif:

So what do you think? 360 version looks way better than PS3. Looks like higher rendering resolution, way better textures, better shadows, less aliasing.

Impressive difference right there, I wonder if it is due to all those years Bungie spent optimizing for the 360? Or is it that more powerful GPU in the 360 showing off.

That's what I call a big difference.

Quite, yes. PS3 version seems to be the worst, with a distance. Of course Bungie has more experience with 360 but I would have guessed that Sony had put a lot of effort to make the dev-tools ripen but looking at Destiny it seems Cell programming is still an issue for devs.

#lazydevs ...

I think it's a combination of both. But either way, 360 owns PS3 version in a brutal way.

Well I'm used to playing the ugliest versions of multiplats, do it doesn't really bother me.

Wow, PS3 looks washed out as fuck.

That's actually a bigger difference than any PS4-Xbone comparison I've seen so far.

This is what I thought, too. Massive difference in almost everything.

So get the PS4 version.

I was playing the PS3 version earlier today and I've also been playing the X1 version.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I noticed the PS3 versions was lacking something that made it seem bland. Now looking at these pictures there was a lack of shadows.

The PS3 versions still looks pretty impressive though and feels virtually the same.

I hope Digital Foundry does a closer analysis. I'm curious to see how the frame rate holds up on the 360. The PS3 versions has a very solid 30 fps.
