Forums - Gaming Discussion - US Box Office: Uncharted movie vs Halo movie

Which movie will gross more in US box office?

Uncharted movie 78 48.15%

Halo movie 84 51.85%

Total:162

No doubt that Uncharted movie will make more money in the US.  However, I'm not sure about global box office.  Those foreigner love those sci-fi and action type movie.  The American audience love characters.  Uncharted movie by Sony is supposedly coming out  June 2016.  Not sure if Halo movie will come out soon, but my guess is that Halo movie will disappoint.

Master Chief is a BORING character.  Nathan Drake is interesting, charming, and very Han Sole-esque.

I do think the opposite tbh, Uncharted will do more money global and Halo in the US, pretty much like the sales of both franchises on Ps360.

There isnt any halo movie in production or even talked about right now, but if there was halo would win. Uncharted is too similar to too many other movies. Sci fi movies generally have an easier time finding a larger audience.

hmm, I'd say the Halo movie would do better. I expect the Uncharted movie to flop. Video game movies don't do that well anyways.

You are wrong.  The video game audience and movie audience are not the same.  The video game audience is primarily young males (teens to late 20s).  However, Uncharted movie should have more mass appeal amongst the general audience.  No girls would care about a character where you never see the face with no personality i.e. Master Chief with some generic intergalactic plot about saving human race from aliens.   However, Uncharted movie would be more about character rather than plot, and Nathan Drake is a colorful character that would appeal outside the video game young male audience.

Halo won't work that well as a movie, so expect something stupid like Doom the movie. Uncharted can be like Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones.

You would obviously see master chiefs face in a movie.  He wouldnt be a faceless avatar for the player in a movie.  Also, there is tons of lore and back story for master chief through novels and comics that flesh him out as a person.  Any movie based on halo would probably derive just as much from the novels as the games.  In fact, the one script that almost became a movie was actually based on the fall lf reach novel.

And its not the same audience for a random movie and a movie based on videogame neither. Both movies are mainly aiming the fans anyway. Having into count how popular is halo in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if can destroy Uncharted there, despite that "Nathan Drake's appeal"and whatever the plot is good or not.

Looking at the director of Uncharted, that already gives Halo a better shot...

Some gamers would go see the Halo movie, some gamers would go see the Uncharted movie and most people wouldnt give a shit about either...
