I know that Sony has said that the PS4 won't have external HDD support, but I'm confused as to why. A USB 3.0 external HDD should easily match the speed of the internal. Also, it's hard to find 2.5" HDDs over 1TB for a reasonable price, while 3-4TB external USB 3.0 HDDs can be found for relatively cheap. I'm really not sure why this isn't supported, especially considering that game installs are mandatory now, and that games are bigger than ever. I'm almost full on the 500GB already, and would love to hook up my 3TB external to my PS4.
Does anyone know exactly why Sony isn't supporting externals? It can't possibly be a homebrew issue since both the Xbox One and the Wii U support exterals and have had no problems. I tried looking for the exact reason, but couldn't find one. Anyone know?
Edit, 500GB, not 5000 XD
