Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What I want to see from a Wii U Sakura Samurai and Dillon's Rolling Western

Of all my favorite 3DS eshop titles, two of my favorites have to go to Sakura Samurai and and Dillon's Rolling Western. They are such cool and not of explored game concepts and I'd hope that they could one day get bigger budgets to fully explore that potencial on the Wii U. If that were to happen, here's what I'd want to see.

Sakura Samurai

This game should be structured in a similar way to games like Shovel Knight. The main drawback of Sakura Samurai was that sword fights were the only thing you really did. While the battles where outstanding, when that's all you do over and over, it becomes repetitive. Instead of each level being just sword fighting and nothing else, let us actually explore real levels. I don't want Sakura Samurai to become a platformer, don't get me wrong about that, but what if it had you solve 3D puzzles and have each level/world follow a specific Japanese theme and aesthetic? Something like a bite sized version of the Skyward Sword land sections for each level. Each taking maybe 5-10 minutes to complete. The boss levels should be bigger and Bowsers Castle-like. Have about 8 worlds and is a perfectly sized game.

Aside from that, making the towns deeper with more things to do would be great. They don't have to be huge or hugely complicated, but something again similar to Shovel knight would be awesome.

Last, give it a story better than hero saves the princess. They can to so much with Japanese myth and the time period.

Dillon's Rolling Western

An action adventure tower defense game without much adventure. I'm fine with DRR being linear, but I think that it would to well to have more action since the combat system is really cool and adventuring since if feels kinesthetically good to roll places. Wait, actually the combat could do for one major improvement. The touch controls. Scrap all of it. Everything should at least have the option of buttons. There's nothing the touch screen does in that game that buttons wouldn't do a million times better. Let me use buttons if I choose.

Back to adventuring, just have routes to connect the tower defense sections where there is no time limit and some basic platforming. Again, different areas could have different western-style themes. Just let us have fun and explore as Dillon. Also, allow us to explore the town we are defending. Teach us to care about the town. Litter the game with secrets and places to explore, and you'll have an awesome AA tower defense game.
