Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How much money could Nintendo make on a Mario movie?

A game like Ratchet and Clank will work well as an animated movie as the characters already have well established personalities with good storylines too so you just have to simply bring these to the big screen and add a bit more depth here and there. Marios characters have as much personality as the Teletubbies and story are pretty much non-existent in Mario games so translating the series into a movie is a bad idea.

I don't know but I have a great Idea on the story! Princess peach gets kidnapped and Mario and friends will have to save her.

I know, it's genius!

but seriously if done well it could do really good

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

if its made by pixar everything is possible even 500 mil.

They already sold mario's soul to hollywood, it made one of the worst movie ever.

According to wikipedia :
Budget $48 million
Box office $20,915,465

Even a commercial flop.Video game adaptations were never great movies. Some were average though (ex : Silent Hill).

ooooooh such a huge budget for this movie:O:O:O:O:O:O:O...21million box office isnt a failure...the excessive budget making this looking a failure:P

Eh Mario doesnt really have the personality to carry a movie to be honest.

Neither does nathan drake but it doesnt stop an uncharted movie from being made.

Its not like you cant make up a personality or well fine tune the little bits one already has.

Nathan Drake doesn't have personality? What are you talking about??

Read again.

I don't think that'd work. I'd rather watch a Sonic movie!

I believe he has plenty personality to carry a movie. Hes basically Indiana Jones.

not very much at all tbh.

I know I am just restating previous comments but if Nintendo partnered with Disney or Pixar, then and only then would I support the idea and believe that it could be a box office success.

Anything that have earning of half the expenditure is a failure, at least commercialy speaking.
