Forums - Gaming Discussion - Third party games are not a selling point for the XB1.

"plebegaming.com" Says it all really.

3rd party games are a selling point for XB1.

They will if they're not coming to the Wii U or aren't cross-gen. Games like Batman and The Witcher 3 will probably give the PS4 a bigger boost, but they will still provide a boost to XBO. A boost that the Wii U will miss out on.

So you're saying that because some 3rd party titles look a little better on PS4, it actually makes the Xbone's 3rd party situation WORSE than Wii U, which sees next to no AAA 3rd party support? Sorry, but uh...

Also, keeping with that same logic, I guess then that the PC is the only platform that 3rd party games are a selling point on.

So you think thats funny? I think is funny how the wii u is outselling the xbone for the past 2 months even with all that support the x1 is guetting. Just in case, they are getting creamed this month too.

3rd party games are a selling point on the X1... just not as strong as they are for the PS4.

And considering how the Wii U did better than the X1 the past 3 months, 3rd party games are probably not as strong of a selling point on the X1 as 1st party games are for the Wii U.

It's almost like no one has realized that Wii U has outsold Xbox One for the past 3 months...

Got a WiiU and PS4 in my house now and when choosing a second console X1 never even entered my mind because it shares so much with PS4.  I think WiiU as a second console, especially at its cheap price, is a big factor that could help it with that unique library and stronger exclusive lineup than X1 in my opinion.

Inferior ports didn't stop the PS2, and to a lesser extent the PS3 before 2011.

The ps2 was a monster with a vast library of exclusives that set it apart, and inferior ports on the ps3 were a flat out liability early on, maybe not the biggest but it certainly didn't help.

Yes they are. Just cause they don't sell as well on the X1 compared to the PS4, doesn't mean they aren't a selling point. For the Wii U though, third party games are clearly not a selling point.

This sums up everything. Thanks Mo :)

Took the words out of my mouth!

Wii U had Mario Kart which will probably be its biggest exclusive. Also at this time last year, the Wii U was doing terribly.

Their third party situation isn't worse than the Wii U's, their entire situation is. The Wii U doesn't get much third party support, but Nintendo has a vast library of established first party franchises to work with. The XB1 has two large first party franchises, an average racing racing sim, and a couple of new IPs. Their major holiday release is an HD remaster. Third parties were the reason for XB360's massive success. The XB1 can't rely on the third party games to push consoles to players that won't already buy it for stuff like halo or gears. It's a way worse situation because their main selling point is no longer selling, because there's a better place to get them, whereas the Wii U's main selling points are exclusive to it.

If you read what I posted it's painfully clear that no one buys an XB1 for third party games.

Notice how everyone posting just to denounce my claims has yet to offer any reason as to why someone would buy an XB1 for third party games. "It's only a little weaker ad the exclusive content for the other guy is only a little better" is not a selling point. Would you put that on the side of the XB1 box? No? Not really a selling point then.

Find me a few legit people that have zero interest in Halo, Gears, Sunset Overdrive, Forza or Project Spark, but will buy an XB1. You can't do it. No one decides to spend the same amount of money for an inferior product on purpose. If you are buying an XB1 it's solely because of its exclusives, the third party titles are the after thought.

MK8 is probablt the biggest game, but it has many to come exclusively to the wii u, and some are relly great. Whats coming to the x1? A bunch of multy plats that only move ps4's, a remake that will only appeal to existent x1 owners, and sunset overdrive wich does not look that impresive and its a new ip so wont move a lot of consoles.

X1 had what it was percieved as a pricecut of $100 and lost, in last.

And your right it was doing terrible last year. The thing is that the wii u was alone at that time, if it sold bad it still sold better than the competition wich at that time was zero. So even selling bad it was growing a gap between them. So when the x1 arrieved and it sold great at the begining the wii u stayed ahead, and now tha the x1 is selling bad it will stay ahead.
