Forums - Gaming Discussion - Third party games are not a selling point for the XB1.

http://plebegaming.wordpress.com/2014/07/22/third-party-games-dont-sell-xb1-consoles/

For all the flak people give Nintendo's lack of third party support, it's the XB1 that's got it the worst. If they're going to take second place from Nintendo, it will have to be on the backs of its first party exclusive titles, and I just don't see that happening.

It's almost like no one has realized that Wii U has outsold Xbox One for the past 3 months...

X1 has great 3rd party support, almost on par with PS4. It would be a major selling point but 3rd party players are better off with the more powerful PS4.

Yea, pretty much. X1 may have third party but most of the games both look and perform better on the ps4 so... Yea

And that's why it's not a selling point.

Inferior ports didn't stop the PS2, and to a lesser extent the PS3 before 2011.

Yes they are. Just cause they don't sell as well on the X1 compared to the PS4, doesn't mean they aren't a selling point. For the Wii U though, third party games are clearly not a selling point.

That's a silly notion. 3rd party titles are certainly helping the PS4 more than the X1, but image the X1 with WiiU style support. It would be a sales massacre.

9 of the X1's top 10 selling games are 3rd party, of which 6 are multi-plats (8 including TitanFall and DR3). Part of the reason people buy an xbox is because they know they will get the majority of 3rd party titles. Sure they generally get the inferior version of them, but that didn't stop people enjoying the PS3.

You could argue that the WiiU's 1st party support acts as a bigger selling point than the X1's 3rd (i'd disagree with you in the long run, but it's a valid argument right now), but to say 3rd party titles as a whole are irrelevant to the X1 isn't even remotely true.

So you're saying that because some 3rd party titles look a little better on PS4, it actually makes the Xbone's 3rd party situation WORSE than Wii U, which sees next to no AAA 3rd party support? Sorry, but uh...

Also, keeping with that same logic, I guess then that the PC is the only platform that 3rd party games are a selling point on.

Third party games do matter, but the problem is that the vast majority simply play better on the PS4. Still more support than Wii U though, which is a selling point over it.
