So i've played Dynasty Warriors 8 for awhile yesterday at ma bro's house with some other weird dude and i've got to admit... It was pretty fun.
Mostly multiplayer, single player looks boring and i can imagine the game getting repetitive like most people say but so far i got a good impression about it. After an embarrassing conversation about love and women i decided to change topics and asked what they think of the upcoming Hyrule Warriors game for WiiU.
They don't own a WiiU of course but they are familiar with the Zelda franchise and the bro said: "Hyrule Warriors looks okay but it won't be any different from the Warriors series". Basically he expects it to be a mediocre Warriors game with some Zelda skins and items for Nintendo fans. Here's an actuall photo of him if you'd like to kick his ass.
Okay, so i got that one off Google, but you get the point. I can't remember what the other guy said... I guess i didn't even bother to listen. It's definitely not the first time we see Zelda trying out a different direction, we had Link's Crossbow Training and Wand of Gamelon but i don't really care for those games.
This time Nintendo seems to be taking Hyrule Warriors very serious, like the next must have exclusive for the failing WiiU. Is this going to be a game worth our time though? I must admit that i don't like the idea of a Dynasty Warriors and Zelda hybrid game... Nope...
I LOVE IT!
I think that after the huge succes of the best game ever made Ocarina of Time, Nintendo has been playing it WAY to safe with the console Zelda games. Sure, they gave us different art styles and motion controls once in a while which got lots of hate but the core gameplay was still the same. So i applaud Nintendo for finally trying something different with Zelda. Like i said, Links Crossbow Training never got my attention and Wand of Gamelon is just Wand of Gamelon.
This time in Hyrule Warriors we arn't even forced to play as Link anymore, instead you can choose to play as Zelda or Sheik or other famous Zelda characters! Another great thing is that it's likely to support multiplayer, online or splitscreen not sure about that but i hope both! So even if it's a spin-off, it's fresh to see a different kind of Zelda game that looks and sounds badass. It looks so badass that i can already imagine playing as that running MailGuy and kick some Goblin in the balls..!
Yeah, he won't be included. Let's hope for Tingle though!
Repetitiveness might become a problem. We all love Zelda but even i got sick and tired of those tears collecting in Twilight Princess and those only lasted till the third temple! I wonder if Nintendo has thought about this and got a solution in mind to avoid this of ruining the game.
Lastly, i don't think this game is gonna sell WiiU's... Perhaps it'll do better in Japan because of how big the Warriors series is over there. But i do hope it sells enough to make a profit, even if i may not like the final game it's still nice seeing Nintendo try something new with Zelda.
