Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why I don't like the Wii U, but will buy it anyway.

Of course, like any sane people, in fact working in an analytic agency, I knew the Wii U would fail.
And there was no need to wait for it's release, we actually won clients by predicting exactly how it would sell and fail, badly, because the problems don't come from the market, players, medias or publishers but just the Wii U:

It's a failed concept, marketing and hardware.

BUT, like any true game, I can't pass a generation without playing the few but important Nintendo exclusives there will be on Wii U: Mario Kart 8, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, SSB, Zelda 2015 or Star Fox 2015.

but the thing is that by the time I buy it (when they redesign it and drop the price),  games will have dropped in price too and/or the Wii U will probably have been pirated or emulated.

And that's what I'm sad for: the Wii U will be a financial (so where not just talking about profit but stocks) failure, and the 3DS won't be able to save since it's already stagnating around 40 millions (won't sell more than 70/80 millions lifetime, which is barelly what PS3/X360 or PSP sold).

And when that happens, there are chances that you can't find the ressources and confidence to release a next console. As a true game who already witness the fall of Sega (who made one of the greatest console however: the Dreamcast), and the failure of one of my favorite console (the Gamecube, man that was crazy quality Nintendo), I'd be shocked if they didn't.

What about you? (No, not you the completely detached from reality fan) Are you one of those who don't care or don't like the Wii U but know they'll buy it eventually because you can't miss some of the few great games there'll be on it?

games and zelda

I was reading your post sitting and nodding. Trying to see if something could brighten my day. Maybe a Spurge post here and there but even before that i saw this, "the Gamecube, man that was crazy quality Nintendo".

That was all i needed to brighten my otherwise shitty day. How you see Gamecube with such dreamy eyes while Wii U, which is essentially a GameRectangle HD with such disdain.

Thanks, OP.

This is so gonna not end well. I've said elsewhere that I don't like the Wii U because it's a complete failure of a system on so many levels (that's also why I firmly believe that 25million is the best case scenario for it, unless a miracle happens)

I might buy one, if I can get it for a 100 bucks just to play the new Zelda though.

The Wii U won't be emulated, it's too powerfull a Power PC machine to decently emulate, look at the Xbox 360 and PS3, emulatipn there is near nonexistant

Eh, I love my WiiU simply because it offers many high quality games like 3D World and Mk8..

I dont love the console but it's not bad either. However, i love the games it has.

Playing: F1 2016 (PC), Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (PS4)
Watching: Hajime no Ippo, Attack on Titan (4th time)
Upcoming purchases in October:
-TBD

I went with the second option in the poll, but my situation is more that I liked its concept at first, wasn't really sold on it but got one for my girls for the holidays. Now, I dislike it, most of its games and my girls play it maybe once or twice a week, if that.

It's already selling at a profit.

People desperately need to separate "I hate the Wii U' and "the Wii U has failed."

I like the Wii U and i bought this console the 11 December 2012.
