Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Does MS have an IP that on level with Gears or Halo that we don't know about?

No...Sony never said that. The entire industry is cutting back on making AAA's. Sony will still have a ton of AAA's but not as much as the fleet they came out with last gen. Even half of what Sony made last gen is still more than most.

Sony is gonna make less AAA, A, and even B games. Sony is gonna make less games period. They've become more reliant on 3rd parties which is fine by me. I never begrudged MS for doing the same because there is still more than enough to play.

Also, look at the modest or lack of support Sony is giving PS3 and Vita. Which is surprising considering how much boasting was done about the great support Sony gives their old platforms even after launching a new platform.

I am going to ignore that example...but still Gran Tourismo sold almost as much as the best selling Halo game. Also I dont know about Nintendo but Sony does take plenty of risks with thier IPs. evident in TLOU and critically acclaimed games like Heavy Rain and LittlebigPlanet. Really wished MS didnt play safe everytime.

Once again, you're missing the point. MS has created new IPs and some have been very successful. The OP ignores that because none were as big as Halo or Gears.

Whether or not Gran Turismo sold as much as Halo is irrelevant. If the OP is gonna mention MS hasn't made anything bigger than Halo or Gears, perhaps its worth noting Sony hasn't created a new IP bigger than GT.

Little Big Planet isn't a great example of taking a risk. That's an IP Sony has gone to many times now

Heavy Rain was a risk.

TLOU is a zombie survival game with shooting, I don't consider that a big risk. Making sequels will not be a risk either.

Maybe you should pay attention to the question asked....

Dude...anything less from Sony is still far more than MS internally. The AAA sector of the industry is causing numerous companies to downsize. Sony is STILL making AAA's. I truly cannot wait to see the outcome of another one of their collaborations with Software in Bloodborne.

“We’ve been saying that the number of AAAs might be getting smaller because the cost of development for AAAs is getting higher,” he said. “But there are so many indie games and great games coming out almost every week or every other week. We’re seeing it on PS4. I hope you’re seeing it as well.” ~Yoshida

Sorry about the late response, I didn't notice you replied.

What does MS have to do with this? Doing more than MS doesn't mean "Sony will still have a ton of AAA's".

Dude, no need to drag MS into every discussion. Its getting sad. I don't think Sony is going to make a "ton of AAA's". They seem to want to make less games, period.

I used MS as a bar because no matter what you say Sony for a while now Sony has been putting out the most new IP's and since MS took third party exclusivity from them in the last gen they've fought back with even more AAA exclusives. I used MS because MS forced Sony to become self sufficient as an internal developer.

Oh boy, you keep missing the point.

I'm merely pointing Sony is obviously slowing down the amount of games they're putting out. It was a response to "Sony will still have a ton of AAA's".

The bar shouldn't be MS. The bar should be what they did on PS3, PSP, and Vita early on. Sony is making less console games internally, they're making less handheld games (virtually none now), Sony is making less games period.

Hence, I wasn't making a console war debate. Sony is clearly focused on doing less game development and I don't antcipate "Sony will still have a ton of AAA's". They will make some, but have a big reliance on 3rd parties.

This thread should be locked. It is bait, pure and simple.

STAGE knows MS doesn't have another IP that sells like Gears and Halo, asks a question that nobody can answer, while indirectly putting down MS's other IP's and lack of effort to create said 3rd mega IP.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

If we don't know about it,then, it's not in the same level as gears or halo(these two are not at the same level btw)
