Microsoft didn't even create Halo. They bought it mid production. The only thing they could probably attribute to MS was that it became an FPS. The score was already written and the art style and concepts were already laid out when they released it at Apples show.

Sony is actually INVOLVED in the development process. Microsoft had more of a hand in the Kinects development and they didnt even create that

Lastly, Halo's story was never properly told by Bungie. It wasn't until Halo 4 that it was properly done when it came to tone, artistic direction and so much more (obviously because the team changed). Halo Reaches attempt at emotional dialogue and comradery was worse that Gears of War which was at least drew people in despite its Michael bay style dialogue.

I am so glad someone else took over the story of Halo outside of Bungie because they aren't that great. They are much better at characters, gameplay and balancing levels.

You recycle your argument over and over when it comes to MS topic.

For the last time, Bungie didn't know if they were going make Halo a RTS or a TPS game before they were acquired by MS.

There wouldn't be a Master Chief without MS.

Masterchief existed without MS. The whole universe was planned out before MS. When they revealed it i'll agree that it didn't look like an FPS. They were just showing a build of the game. The game was still in development but all the important ducks and assets needed to show off the build were in a row.  People were highly impressed back then with it as well.

Watch the video and stop talking nonsense.

People please calm down this thread has become nothing more than another battleground for stupid console war arguments.

Wasn't that the point all along? I am not surprised to see the OP has quickly begun reminding us that MS buys games, cannot compete with Sony when it comes to games, actually taught the industry how to make cinematic games, and Xbox has little IP's in its favor, etc etc

I asked an honest question and remembered that Quantum Break was coming out, so when no one could answer my own question the brainstorming process answered it for me. As for the derailing of the thread, when I returned to it from school people were arguing about Sony and Xbox IP's.

Wow, just that!

"The game was still in development but all the important ducks and assets needed to show off the build were in a row".

There wasn't a Halo world back in '99 or this video in concrete. That Halo had the most basic plotlines you could find at the time, Alien bad guys vs humans with inferior technology trying to survive.

Bungie had to redo, plus more, everything they had done pre-MS acquirement and transform their primitive design to something more sophisticated. From graphic overhaul to story including a pivotal character as the savior of the galaxy. No not a tomb raider...

MS made it into a military adventure thus the marketing team adding Combat Evolved to spark more attention.

Show me a article which confirms what you're saying or you're just making things up. I just showed you a video which shows Apple revealing halo, the score, master chief, elites and many other assets in the legitimate halo universe in order to sell the ability of a mac to play high powered games back then. The game was well along before MS came.

Links or stop talking.

Master Chief is the spartan in that video build

Pre Microsoft purchase

Post Microsoft purchase

Links please. I even heard Bungie had the groundwork laid out for Destiny before Halo as well.

That's just a model of a future soldier, they weren't even called Spartans as Halo world was officially created with the publishment of Halo: Fall of Reach in October 2001.

Get your ish right son.

It shouldn't even matter that MS acquired Bungie. It's not like Sony didn't do the same with all of it's studios.

Sony is not the same. Sony is much stronger at development internally and are known for co-developing at least with other developers.  Demon Souls was made by Software in tandem with Sony Japan. Sony Santamonica has helped numerous developers who were making third party exclusives for Sony. Most Studios who Sony acquires go through a trial period of making games with Sony before Sony purchases them. Its akin to how MS works with Remedy, but Sony actually helps third party who make second party for them or first party in development.

The Naughty Dog of today...was not the Naughty Dog before Sony bought them. Sony changed them and refocused their efforts on big budget action games instead of cartoon characters (being that Sony never owned Crash nor Spyro). If you didn't notice every company who works under Sony who creates action adventure games has a similar style which brings a hallmark of Sony. The art style of Infamous changed drastically from the first game all the way to the third. It was like a metamorphosis. Uncharted paved the way to how most of Sony's development goes because again...Sony is a movie house so they like to have their games have elaborate stories. Also one of the biggest differences between Sony and MS is that Sony takes risks on new IP's with their big developers where as MS doesn't unless they can confirm big numbers for the games. MS is hesitent about wasting money because they've had so many projects not turn out the way they had liked from the first gen. Look at the Last of Us which is basically the heart and soul of all the hard work put in Uncharted in one game all the way down to the multiplayer.

Uncharted was going to be a fantasy game like lord of the rings before Sony told them to make a action/adventure shooter. This is well documented. MS bought Halo Mid development and published Gears mid development.

Know the difference.

You're really grasping at straws. Watch the video again. He called it "Halo" and "The halo project" in 1999 not future soldier. I'm sorry if this bruises your previous notions but its just a fact that you are seriously having an issue coping with. He says in one minute into the video. Halo is the name.

Once more. Show me a link or stop talking. Your argument is just hot air.

I'll be playing Gears 2 waiting for your link.....please don't disappoint.

Looks like you're just one generic super soldier amongst many in the first pic and Master Chief fighting alongside normal human marines in the second pic. I guess MS took them under their wings and really showed them how to emphasize character and story. Bravo, MS.
