Forums - Sony Discussion - FINALLY GOT PS4!!! *story and COMPLAINT*

So. 3 days ago my ps3 randomly froze and from that point on it wouldn't connect to the internet. I decided to sell it and (#yolo) sell my vita to buy a brand new ps4 along with infamous and watch dogs (which I got for $10) at gamestop. 

 

So far, it's an amazing console. I had originally planned to wait until 2015, so this was a spur of the moment thing. 

 

However, one major issue..... USB PLAYBACK. I did a ton of video playback with my ps3 so I'm pretty disappointed learning that Sony doesn't have the feature yet for ps4. And no I don't plan on subscribing to video unlimited lol. 

 

My question to you ps4 veterens: is there a future confirmed update on this issue? Or is it still I'm limbo?? 

 

Would also like to know any other useful ps4 things you guys have found out. THANKS :)

My understanding when they announced the ps4 is this feature wouldnt be supported. Whether or not it comes in the future, who knows. If it does come, I wouldnt anticipate it for a very long time...

Did you tell the person that you sold it to that the PS3 has problems?

I think that feature has been rumored to be coming in an update but its not confirmed.

There has litterally a day ago been rumours of media playback in the next firmware update. It is to be announced next week as i remember.

You'll get media playback features in next update which will be before the gamescom according to recent rumors.



GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Yeah expect it in the next feature filled firmware.

You can already use Music off a memory stick in Share Factory App, so i reckon media playback from a USB stick will be supported in the media playback app in the next firmware.

Yosh said in a tweet before launch that the media streaming features, similar to those of the PS3 were being "worked on" ... and this is radio silence since then, as a PS4 owner it kind of worries me that there is no time frame for this, but at the same time I would find it pretty strange if that was not resolved soon.

Also, I heard some people played their MP3s from their USB drives through the video editing app, but I don't think is supports video playback.
