Pokemon X Minecraft. 100 million units sold!

Played it a few times.  Not my kind of game though it definatly has it's audience.  I don't hate it though I don't particularly understand why it's still so popular.  My sister's obsessed with it though.  She built Frozen the Princess - for me.

The community is why it still lasts, seriously, have you seen the crazy builds by some people? Somebody built a freaking 16-bit computer in the game with it's red stone system. The game took the phrase "the only limit is your creativity" to a whole new level.

another reason it's still popular is the mod community, I don't play the original game much anymore, I play the Tekkit Lite mod pack, alongside some other mods I downloaded.

I must be missing something, I thought the video was pretty funny.

I played it on PC years ago. Had fun and after a month or so moved on. I have no idea how people build what they do and could see if you had online community it adding to it. I really have no issue with it being so popular with kids, seems to encourage creativity and commitment.

is it cool to hate on minecraft now?

It's 'hip' to hate on something that is popular. Like when people hate the iPhone for all it's well made bullcrapness (especially in those new adverts, seriously, no one uses an iPhone as a baby monitor) but they have an Nokia E90 or something. In in gaming terms, hating CoD because of the dick's who make up the community when in reality they are just well made games.

Minecraft is good, a time sink but good if it helps kids with creativity or lets people have fun then it is certainly better for the gaming world and education in general than any Resident Evil or Final Fantasy ever will be.
