I was considering getting the digital version but now I think i'll go physical...

As others have said, this is the physical install. Although, since all PS4 games get installed on the HDD, it's not like it matters.

Why do they do that? We should have the option to just play it off the disc...

Because it creates a best possible experience from a loading perspective. It's takes a less than a minute to play from putting the disc in, I don't see how it's a problem. Anyone complaining hasn't actually deleted or installed a game on a PS4. It's all pretty seamless and you wouldn't be able to tell unless someone told you it was installing information.

Seriously, anybody who has actually used a PS4 knows how much of a non-issue this really is. It's not like we're talking about the PS3's installation times.

What a pain in the ass. Going all digital this gen is becoming worse and worse.

And this is why the industry won't go 100% digital in the near future.

OT: Anyone with an average internet connection ever try to download a game that big?

Well, if all physical games have to be installed anyway, there really isn't an issue with digital. The main problem was games taking up too much room, and now physical games have the same problem.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Yeah...remind me to put a bigger HD in first thing when I get my PS4...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Tell that to Mario Kart 8. 1080p 60fps baby!

Sorry about that, but not true: http://wiiudaily.com/2014/05/mario-kart-8-runs-at-720p-native-resolution/

Oh well. It's not like I bought a Wii U for that specifically. That's what PC is for.

Very sorry, my mistake. Haven't realized you are talking about the PC version of Mario Kart.

Yeah, it's pretty great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euhHKlNaPgk

That sucks, I dont want to give up more than 10% of my HDD space for one game esp with no external support. This could be a real issue.

MY PS4 IS READY!*

*I preordered it.

Same goes for downloads (it takes more time, depending on your conneciton speed) but bigger games will normally let you play before they're done downloading/installing.

And they said Wii U had an insufficient storage space....
PS4 is worse due to the need to install every damn game IMO

This is insane. 50gig's for the physical version, lol.
