Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Wii U beating Xbox One even after price drop! What happened to the 360 fans?

They seemed blindly loyal, and my words seemed to have little effect. So why the change?"

Here you have your answer. They were not fans of the Xbox, you have painted as fans of the Xbox. these were only people who have seen better value in the 360 even with the RROD.

btw the contradiction is strong here " I felt like they were disloyal after" ... "They seemed blindly loyal"

So you are saying that they werent fanboys buy just prefer playing on Xbox?

Oh and at your December 20 2014 prediction: I think the Wii U will sell more than the XB1 because of Europe. As of late the Wii U has been selling way better than the XB1 in EU due to MK8. I think Smash will alsi help boost it. The only guarantee is that XB1 will sell better in NA. I kniw this is off topic but it had to be said hahaha.

Western games aren't in their way out lol. Japanese games are on their out. Outside of japan most of those Japanese games just don't sell. Western games have been taking over for a awhile now. Wiiu is barely beating x1 with no games and no Japanese release. Nothing to really brag about

Well there is still the boost from MK8 to help with that, but in all reality, the XBone is doing bad because consumers, especially American consumers, are brutal. MS originally thought they could play people for stupid and tried to sell a product that was pretty much trying to milk them for money, and it resulted in some pretty bad PR. No matter how much they try to fix things, their bad image isn't gonna change overnight, especially when most people who would've bought an XBone this early have already spent the $400 on a PS4.

They just have to keep chugging for now and hope their new direction eventually catches on. They've got a long road ahead before that happens though.

Yeah, japan seems to be the most biased of the big territories.
The 360s LT sales over there is like a bad holiday season for a console in the other markets.

It's largely because with the 360/PS3 battle Microsoft owners could rightly feel like they had a console that
was on the cutting edge of technology whereas with Xbone graphical downgrades were being discussed before the damn thing even came out.
This matters less for Nintendo fans who generally hold innovation and gameplay in higher regard but the majority of 360 fans are obsessed with graphics and the simple fact is that the PS4 is a more powerful console. Combine this with a messy Kinect SKU and the damage done prior to launch with the always online dilemma and Microsoft are finding that they have a lot of work to do in 2014.
I will say however that I found their E3 presentation to be top class! Exclusive games like Sunset Overdrive will be crucial to persuade people that the Xbone is a worthy contender to Wii U and PS4....

2007: "What happened to all of the PS2 fans?"

People don't seem to be loyal to systems, though that may change now that people are buying content digitally (ad thus investing money in a particular system)

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Those 360 owners did a 360 and got back to PSFour .

Many PS2 owners used the system strictly as a DVD player, not as a gaming device.

When PS3 came out nobody needed a 600 dollar DVD player.

Before reading, know this is not a troll article. I am not putting down Xbox One owners, even though I do not like Xbox myself.

I am surprised that Xbox One is doing so poorly after the price cut, improved Xbox Gold--and not needing it for Netflix, etc.--special Gamestop deals, and all the Phil Spencer works. Man have things changed! Xbox was the popular American system. Even the Wii U--supposedly on death row--is beating Xbox One now. I can say I am pleased, but surprised as well. It has been my dream for years for Playstation to beat Xbox in America again. I remained loyal to the Playstation brand through it's worst times. Where is the loyalty of the 360 fans?

Back in the day, on 1up.com, I kept telling all the 360 gamers that they are on the wrong side. I told them about how MS is corrupt and that they are buying RROD junk machines. I felt like they were disloyal after 2 generations of fun that Playstation provided for them. They wouldn't listen to me and they blasted me left and right. They seemed blindly loyal, and my words seemed to have little effect. So why the change?

I only have theories. The DRM/always online disaster of E3 2013? Forced Kinect inclusion? Dropping Kinect after vowing that Kinect would stay with every Xbox One? Misleading advertizing? A combination of things? I am not sure. It just seems like many people woke up and saw what I saw for a change.

Let me know in the comments why you think the Xbox brand is failing right now even after all the improved changes MS has made. I don't have much time for responses, but I will read your comments. If I have the time, I will respond. Thanks.

The majority of 360 "fans" were just mainstream gamers who buy whichever console is "popular." That console right now is PS4, so most migrated there.
