Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Wii U beating Xbox One even after price drop! What happened to the 360 fans?

If Nintendo can "recover" after a year and a half on the market with such a loyal fan base and a good amount of first party software than I think the One can and will make up lost ground once the bigger titles have come out. What exclusives has the One had so far? Ryse? Titanfall was a risky new IP that also released on the 360 and PC. The titles start soon with Madden and will lead into a very healthy holiday season.

They made some mistakes early on but things are looking a lot better based on feedback. They do need a price cut, removing the kinect was not a price cut, it was the removal of an unneccessary accessory few wanted. Right now people really enjoy their 360's, there is a ton of great content, sales every week for arcade and digital retail games, a lot of the same services offered on the 360 as the One. But gradually there is more incentives and there will be, the games are coming, and the xbox fans who enjoy achievements and built up friends lists will upgrade, the 360 service has so much to offer that honestly for people without the extra money or waiting for that first big release a la MK8 will pull the trigger.

"Back in the day, on 1up.com, I kept telling all the 360 gamers that they are on the wrong side. I told them about how MS is corrupt and that they are buying RROD junk machines. I felt like they were disloyal after 2 generations of fun that Playstation provided for them. They wouldn't listen to me and they blasted me left and right. They seemed blindly loyal, and my words seemed to have little effect. So why the change?"

Here you have your answer. They were not fans of the Xbox, you have painted as fans of the Xbox. these were only people who have seen better value in the 360 even with the RROD.

btw the contradiction is strong here " I felt like they were disloyal after" ... "They seemed blindly loyal"

It s a little early to say the 360 fans are not loyal-  once meet gen games start rolling out a little more often we ll have a better idea how it is going to sell-    Like most I did not like to see the direction xbox was taking under Matrick ( Balmer?) - But they deserve credit for making much needed changes and Phil Spencers sincere leadership -

for or the record I don t own an xbox - I own a Wii u.  But it is way too early to assume how things will turn out for the xbox 1-  they have shown they are not going to sit around and do nothing - sooner or later thier efforts will get results IMO

It's become cool to hate now. There's nothing objectively wrong with the XBO as it is now. It's a little weaker and probably has less exclusive. PS4 seems obviously better, but the XBO isn't a major step worse like people make it out to be.

Maybe it's signaling the end of american-style games in the same way Japanese gaming declined. COD is starting to go down in sales after all.

Or not. Meh.

No reason to buy it now as all big third party games are on 360

Same can be said for the PS4, though.

The PS fanbase is much bigger then the XB fanbase, PS fans are also alot more loyal

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Anybody that said Americans bought the Xbox 360 because of some sort of patriotism is retarded. The 360 was an awesome console and, for whatever reason, people either think the Xbox One isn't or they just prefer the competition.

I hate M$, but yet I game with Xbox/bone mainly. I guess I just love to constantly be disappointed.

I moved to Xbox OG phat, as my main, after quitting gaming for 2 years due to the death of Dreamcast. Started gaming again mainly due to my new found love for HD TVs. Bought games in this order: Xbox > Cube > PS2. With no loyalty for any company, I was soulless after Sega quit me. I bought the version with the best graphics. I was a graphics whore. Played Maple Story mostly on PC around this time. Didn't really game on console much, I just liked seeing the pretty graphics on my TV. Then came the 360. Bought it by chance and on impulse. I was at Target and saw a line of people outside. Asked what it was for and decided to stand with them till the morning to get a 360. Got hooked to the bitch, because the controller felt so good and Achievements. Xbone then became my main this Gen too, not because of graphics, but because of UI, controller and ecosystem. I actually surprised myself, I thought I was a shallow person and only cared about graphics for all of these years.

As to how that explanation of my life in gaming for the past 10 years applies to this thread, I have no idea.

Now I hate M$ for being pushover little bitches with not backbone and lose of vision. They fucked up Windows Mobile/Phone. Let Apple and Google step all over them because they are so stubborn in their old ways. Then they screwed up the whole concept of Xbone. It's like a console with no identity now. Yet I still enjoy using it.

If Western games are on their way out, what is there to replace them? Japanese games again? Somehow I doubt that.
