If they wish to release them on disc, fine. But I'll buy them digitally anyway, as I do with all my games.
I don't mind the concept of, as you say, "long-term rental", as I perceive games and other entertainment disposable. Once I'm done with them, I have no more need for them.

Have you ever replayed any game? I've replayed some games many, many times. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've played I've played through Super Mario 1, 2, 3, World, and 64, or the classic Mega Man games. Maybe it's because I had more time and fewer games when I was kid and games were shorter back then, but even many games released in my adulthood I've played a lot. I play through at least one mission in Halo CE every week, and I've played all the other Halo games quite a few times. I've beaten BioShock probably half a dozen times. I've played Gears of War 1 & 2 several times. It all just depends on how much I like a game and how much of a time investment the game is. Shorter games or mid-length to long games that are divided up into easily digestible chunks usually get played more often. To me, nothing I buy I ever consider "disposable" (unless it's by it's nature limited- or single-use, like most grocery items and other consumables). If I buy something, it's with the intent that I'll be using it multiple times and will be keeping it forever.

Sure, I've replayed some, but not many (GTA Vice City and San Andreas, Resident Evil 4 & 5, and all Tomb Raiders that were on X360, including the newest one).

That's why I also like digital better. If I had them on disc, I would either have to save it for a chance I might play it again, or rebuy it again, if available.

Now, with digital, they are tied to my account, and all I need to do is download it again. Without fear of losing or damaging a disc, or storing it somewhere.

And if I don't care for the game that much to repeat it ever, it's easier to sell it, and usually for a better price than a disc (and no need to pay postage either).
