Forums - Movies & TV - Rumor: Studio Ghibli Might Quit Making Feature Films

Probably for the best. The Miyazaki =/= Studio Ghibli. I just don't think any of the other films ever had the same magic about them. Will also make getting a full set much easier ;p

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

No... Not Studio Ghibli, please no

I hope they're smarter than this. Could you imagine if Disney Animation Studios closed down after Walt died? Think of all the films there never would have been.

I think they're nervous because only the films directed and written by Miyazaki did well. Seriously he did Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Whisper of the Heart (writer), Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, The Wind Rises. He co-wrote From Up On Poppy Hill and Arrietty.

Hopefully When Marnie Was There does well and they decide against closing their animation department.

Wouldn't bother me, there are plenty more fish in the sea.

You don't know what you are talking  lol there is nothing like Ghibli period

OT: Really sad news if this is true D:!!!

That's sad. Although they'd never be the same without Miyazaki anyway. Their best films by far were his work.

Hmmm...never seen a movie from them. Did play Ni No Kuni though

...Ummm then go freaking watch their movies...like right now.

Not really into those kinda movies. Did see Akira a long time ago, but didnt do much for me Im afraid...

Akira had nothing to do with Studio Ghibli. They're movies usually have a lot the same feel as Ni no Kuni did. Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro are the fan favorites for children safe movies. Try Princess Mononoke if you want something a little more mature.

What kind of movies exactly? Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and The Wind Rises are great movies plain and simple.

Why not? They're better than most of the garbage coming out of hollywood. You have to at least see Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away.
