Now that I looked it up, I remember him from The Great Escape. It will always remain one of my favourite movies, may he rest in peace.

I always liked the way he acted his roles and I havent seen anyone like him since. Same for vincent price.

Good actor but we lost a even better one less then a month ago in Eli Wallach who is best know for playing Tuco in The Good, the and the Ugly and a very similar character in The Magnificent Seven which are two of my favorite movies of the 60's although The Great Escape is pretty good also.
