Forums - Sony Discussion - Nippon Ichi's summer greeting card appears to hint at Disgaea 5

Apparently the summer greeting card they send every year hints at future games, so this could potentially be the cast of Disgaea 5.

I just cannot get into this series. Tried many times, but man do I love the art for it. Main characters of the series get cooler everytime.

Sounds good, isn't Disgaea the stupidly hard one though?

The first one is.  You've got to do a lot of grinding to progress at several popints.  I've played Disgaea 3 on the Vita and it's not, or atleast as far as I've got it's not.  I got to maybe the fourth chapter before I quit playing.  NIS regularly develops awful games though.  The only good games of theirs are the Prinny platformers, ZHP, a rogue like, and some of the Atelier games they published if you can get into that series.

*edit*

That puzzle game they localized might be  good also.  Never played it, but I did purchase it because it seems it could be good.  Originally called Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman, renamed to What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord.  The second one is available for purchase on UMD and apparently inputting a code allows to play the first game.

Very happy to see one of my favorite series continue. Looking forward to 4 on Vita and hopeful D2 follows to Vita as well.

If I can beat it cannot be that hard.  Admittedly some fights you have to grind to have a chance.  To me Disgaea is two games, the story and then al the additional content.  The game itself can be beaten in 30-40 hours, but that additional content can take hundreds if not thousands of hours to complete.

So really it is more of a time sink than a brutally difficult game from my view.

I wonder if they would be against a simultaneous release on console and portable.

4 ≈ One

Some hours griding can take care of all the extra bosses, with the exception of Baal... It's totally overpowered and make the item worlds totally necessary to be beaten a lot of times. To be honest I just defeated him in 1 and 2, now I stop when I reach him, because I don't want to spend that much time to do it every new game, lol.

Yeah, I only ever 100% on the first Disgaea, after that I simply could not justify the time needed to do the item worlds and all.  Still a great series though.

Probably PS3, then Vita latter. (as it always get a portable version as well, but different from the main console game).

I think it's likely to be a PS4 release.  They've been hinting that they've been working on a PS4 title for a while and the timing is too good for it to be anything else, imo.

PS3 or PS4 is my guess. Either way I am set.
