Forums - Sony Discussion - TLOU Dev Fires Back At Those Who Feel $50 Is Too Much For PS4 Version “It’s a Steal”

Normally I probably wouldn't buy something like this, but it's one of my favorite games of all time so I'm willing to make an exception.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I don't give a crap about "included DLC" or "higher resolution". You released a game 1 year ago, I'm not gonna buy it again for almost full price. The people who wanna buy it and go on ahead, I'm not going to support these 1 year old "remasters".

100% agreed. I wouldn't consider $50 for a one year old game a steal just for the better textures, 1080p, and the DLC. I'll get it when it's around $25-$30.
Still not getting how people can compare this the WWHD, or Halo 2 Remaster... but whatever.

DLCs.....and yes you can compare it with every other remaster out there. Because that is just plain old hypocrisy.

Lol.. All the fail analogies people come up with.. Seriously? Books? CDs? Blu-rays? Wtf? That's hardly an apples to apples comparison.

Anyways, everyone seems to forget existing owners. Which is fine. We'll see how the market responds.

Please explain, in your own words, how this is different from an upgrade from a VHS to a DVD to a BluRay. I'm quite curious to see what's your reasoning here.

Both feature basically the same thing:

- same content, uprezzed for better image quality;

- extra content in the form of DLC in this case, behind the scenes extras in the movies case.

So...how is it different?

uhm? the PS3 version will continue working (on PS3) .. and that's what existing owners bought, a PS3 version

would it be nice from Sony's side to discount the PS4 version for owners of the PS3 version ? definitely, but Sony is in need of money as you might not have noticed and TLoU is one of their few profitable IPs, so that one has to deliver big on returns

in my opinion Sony already has done a lot to keep gaming affordable while delivering high quality games, they are allowed to finally reap some profits from their efforts

guess you didn't read my posts prior to this one?  yes, i can continue playing my ps3 game on my ps3.. but my ps4 is hardly getting used because there isn't a big incentive yet to move over, especially with the offerings ps+ has been giving on the ps3.  Sony wants people to start moving next gen.  ND wants people to start moving to next gen.  The industry is ready for people to move over to next gen.  What better way than to allow gamers to do that now, especially with a game that already has some 7 mil + users.  It's not BC, but it's better than nothing, and it could be enough to entice others to take that next gen leap from ps3 to ps4.  i would like to retire my ps3.. with an upgrade to a game i already own would make that move easier to stomach, as i wouldn't have to rebuy a game entirely to enjoy it on my next gen, and i could use the same game disc i already have.  without this in place though, unfortunately, i don't think i would ever buy a next gen version when i already have the last gen version.. mind you a game that's a year old only.. because if it's the same content other than the visual upgrade, why rebuy the same game twice?

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

The sad thing about it is that if ND ever decides to give an upgrade incentive to previous owners, I'm willing to bet that several ppl will come in here and say: "Good! That's something they should have done months ago. Now I can maybe consider upgrading. Maybe."

Not really seeing any decent incentive for ND to take the profitability hit just to please a niche they weren't (by their own admission) even targeting in the first place.

Wasn't Naughty Dog recently talking about how they made everything higher res initially, then downgraded it to what could run on the PS3?

I actually thought a "make higher res" button was what they did here.

Now i wish i could source that article...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

How much is COD Ghosts for ps4? A almost one year old game? 60 bucks isn't it? People that bought it last year and bought a ps4 this week and want to play the better available version, should come here and complain because a year old game should cost less... Right?

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

I think the price is fair and I probably will buy it. But a steal..naah. If you dont like the price dont buy it end of story.

YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY IT TWICE!!!!!! Play it on your PS3 (what you paid for) and stfu.
