as a PC gamer, paying $50 for a >1 year old game is unheard of

Lets be honest, a PC gamer paying for any game is unheard of

Ubisoft breakdown of sales by platform:

Before the current gen consoles launched, PC revenue was actually above PS3 and on par with X360.

The porting cost of ps3, xbox is arguably = or cheaper then just getting it to run on amd, intel and million and 1 combos so its only fair to compare all consoles vs all pc's.

When a company is defending the price of its game, clearly there's a problem. Very unprofessional to come out and basically tell people they're idiots for not wanting to pay $50 for a remake. The original game took an enormous amount of effort and time to produce. All the real work was already done then, and this is simply just a quick remake. It didn't take much time to do, and they're acting like it took as long and was as difficult to produce as the original. They made their money back on this game, and while I think the price is ok, I just think guys like this should stfu and let the game speak for itself. If you have to defend it's price, well, then I think that shows even this defender thinks there's an issue. And for his recommendation on waiting for a price drop? I'll take that one step further, since he's such a dick, I'll buy the game used after it gets a price drop. Thanks for the advice.

hot off the press 'beta versions are good enough, polishing a code/game is not "real work" and doesn't need to be payed' - 'a gamer'

Hot off the press, that is just retarded. It's as though you didn't read my post. Brush up on your reading comprehension skills, it'll help. Alot.

all tlou dlc = 35$ buying the game used on amazon is 22. thats more expensive then the remaster. end of story.

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

For those who have never played Last of Us, it's definitely a steal. For people like me who have played it and still own it, not so much. No way I'm spending that much for a slightly updated version of the game.

most year old games that launch with a $60-$70 price tag are worth $50... so yes, It would be worth $50.

As a matter of fact, the internet seems to be full of people that feel that developing games in general is simple (we probably have more armchair developers than armchair coaches).

HAHA pure gold! This quote pretty much applies to about 80% of gamers on these forums.

I hate seeing these such as "lazy devs", "cash in" , "Doing x is easy" Or "we want some thing different! (then when a dev tries something different they get hate and the gaming communty explodes)"

I sometimes feel sorry for devs....

Back on topic...of course the game is a steal and has great value. If you cant see that then you are clearly blind.

Actually, season pass is $20.  So technically total dlcs+game < remastered.

I think people are thinking this whole ordeal wrong.  TLOU remastered is well worth the $50 bucks for those who hasn't played, never bought/had a ps3, never bought the ps3 version.  The main bicker is for ps3 owners who are now ps4 owners who bought the game last year that wants to be able to play the same game they bought last year on the ps3 on the ps4.  Those who bought the season pass, those that bought the individual dlcs, its kinda a rip to basically be rebuying what you already owned.  Sony and ND could see who's got the season pass or dlcs and give those owners a discount.  if I remember correctly, Sony also knows who bought the game already anyways. You had to redeem a code to access online mp.  Even if you bought the game used, you'd still had to buy an online pass. Why wouldn't Sony want those who bought last gen get it for new gen?  Definitely they could make more money and bring over an existing community by offering that existing community a discount.

Anyways its a great deal for new owners.. But not worth $50 for existing owners.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

You do realize current trade ins for a $30 game is something like $10 if that?  Not to mention you can't sell back your dlcs or season pass?  Anyways.. I added to my comment above to make my point.  Great deal for new owners.. Not so much for those who has the ps3 version and would like to move it over to the ps4.

I don't think the $50 price is the main issue, the main issue is not offering a discount to those who already own the PS3 version. Offering it digitally for $35 for old PS3 users would be completely acceptable, especially considering that the remaster didn't cost much to produce at all. Not doing this is kinda sad.

Do you get a discount when you buy a remastered Blu-Ray release because you bought the DVD?

Or did Lucas Film give you a discount when you bought Star Wars saga on Blu-Ray even though you'd bought the VHS,DVD collections first?

You don't how much the remaster cost. If its too expensive for you don't buy it!

It's not too expensive for me, since I never owned the PS3 version.

There's something called PR. Even games like Call of Duty and Battlefield gave dicounts to people who bought the PS3 versions first and then the PS4. TLOU:R cost Sony very little to make, so letting existing fans upgrade for a moderate price would be smart PR.
