Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Microsoft ever win a gen?

They are like Sega, they come close sometimes but not quite enough.

Nope, 360 was their best bet, launched 1 year early, was 200 bucks cheaper than ps3 at launch, had amazing 3rd party deals, still got caught up.

PS3 caught up because Sony was willing to sacrifice billions and billions of dollars. Hence, they bought a sales lead over the 360.

The biggest reason MS won't win a gen is because they don't care enough. Nintendo is all about gaming. Sony's best thing going might be gaming. Game consoles don't bring in mega profits these days and the market seems to be shrinking.

Any post that starts with this is just going to list some sort of an excuse like always. The point is PS3 caught up, no one gives a shit about the how or the why in 2014. It just is.

I am sure they will loose this gen and also sure this is their last gen. So no, this is it for MS. Last in every gen they participated in.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Going by last gen or course they can. They made a mistake with the Xbox One that wont happen again. Nintendo will never win again. They just got lucky with they whole motion control fad. Hope they took a picture.

Most of their gains from the 7th gen was due to Sony's fuck-ups

Not gonna happen. Last gen wasn't even about them winning, it was about them gaining market share and brand power. Which they did. This gen they just pissed it all away. And sony has learnt from their mistakes. I doubt we will ever see sony in that PS3 position again, they needed to be humbled and they were. Now they know what works and what doesn't work.

There's a probability they will, so if they go on for long enough it will happen eventually.

Microsoft may be able to win in the USA but not worldwide. They just don't have any traction in Europe in Japan. Last gen was weird because the Wii did so well out of the gate but lost steam once people lost interest in using the Wiimote motion controls. Although the XBox 360 came in third, it seemed to be the most popular console in the US.

Never. Sony will always lead except when Nintendo gets lucky. But MS will never come in first place.

They ended up being 2nd place in 7th gen. Profit wise and hardcore games wise.

Everyone expected them to win this gen but they just had to call it Xbox "One" and then the fans decided to go over to Sony instead.

Anything could happen so never say never belibers!
